Fast and Accurate Detection of Masked Faces Using CNNs and LBPs

    Sarah M. Alhammad1, Doaa Sami Khafaga1,*, Aya Y. Hamed2, Osama El-Koumy3, Ehab R. Mohamed3, Khalid M. Hosny3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.3, pp. 2939-2952, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.041011

Abstract Face mask detection has several applications, including real-time surveillance, biometrics, etc. Identifying face masks is also helpful for crowd control and ensuring people wear them publicly. With monitoring personnel, it is impossible to ensure that people wear face masks; automated systems are a much superior option for face mask detection and monitoring. This paper introduces a simple and efficient approach for masked face detection. The architecture of the proposed approach is very straightforward; it combines deep learning and local binary patterns to extract features and classify them as masked or unmasked. The proposed system requires hardware with minimal power consumption… More >

Deep Learning Based Face Detection and Identification of Criminal Suspects

    S. Sandhya1, A. Balasundaram2,*, Ayesha Shaik1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2331-2343, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032715

Abstract Occurrence of crimes has been on the constant rise despite the emerging discoveries and advancements in the technological field in the past decade. One of the most tedious tasks is to track a suspect once a crime is committed. As most of the crimes are committed by individuals who have a history of felonies, it is essential for a monitoring system that does not just detect the person’s face who has committed the crime, but also their identity. Hence, a smart criminal detection and identification system that makes use of the OpenCV Deep Neural Network (DNN) model which employs a… More >

Vision Navigation Based PID Control for Line Tracking Robot

    Rihem Farkh*, Khaled Aljaloud

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 901-911, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027614

Abstract In a controlled indoor environment, line tracking has become the most practical and reliable navigation strategy for autonomous mobile robots. A line tracking robot is a self-mobile machine that can recognize and track a painted line on the floor. In general, the path is set and can be visible, such as a black line on a white surface with high contrasting colors. The robot’s path is marked by a distinct line or track, which the robot follows to move. Several scientific contributions from the disciplines of vision and control have been made to mobile robot vision-based navigation. Localization, automated map… More >
