Research on the Stability Analysis Method of DC Microgrid Based on Bifurcation and Strobe Theory

Wei Chen, Nan Qiu*, Xusheng Yang

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.4, pp. 987-1005, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.045475 - 26 March 2024

Abstract During the operation of a DC microgrid, the nonlinearity and low damping characteristics of the DC bus make it prone to oscillatory instability. In this paper, we first establish a discrete nonlinear system dynamic model of a DC microgrid, study the effects of the converter sag coefficient, input voltage, and load resistance on the microgrid stability, and reveal the oscillation mechanism of a DC microgrid caused by a single source. Then, a DC microgrid stability analysis method based on the combination of bifurcation and strobe is used to analyze how the aforementioned parameters influence the More >

Nonlinear Dynamics of a Flexible Tether-Net System for Space Debris Capture

    Weicheng Huang1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09017

Abstract Here, a flexible tether-net system is applied to capture the space debris and a numerical framework is established to explore its nonlinear dynamic behaviors, which comprises four principal phases: folding, spreading, contacting, and closing [1]. Based on the discretization of the whole structure into multiple nodes and connected edges, elastic force vectors and associated Jacobian matrix are derived analytically to solve a series of equations of motion. With a fully implicit method applied to analyze the nonlinear dynamics of a slender rod network, the involved mechanical responses are investigated numerically accounting for the interactions. Abstract The purpose of the current investigations is to solve the nonlinear dynamics based on the nervous stomach model (NSM) using the supervised neural networks (SNNs) along with the novel features of Levenberg-Marquardt backpropagation technique (LMBT), i.e., SNNs-LMBT. The SNNs-LMBT is implemented with three different types of sample data, authentication, testing and training. The ratios for these statistics to solve three different variants of the nonlinear dynamics of the NSM are designated 75% for training, 15% for validation and 10% for testing, respectively. For the numerical measures of the nonlinear dynamics of the NSM, the Runge-Kutta More >

A Local Sparse Screening Identification Algorithm with Applications

    Hao Li1,2, Zhixia Wang1,2, Wei Wang1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.2, pp. 765-782, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.010061 - 20 July 2020

Abstract Extracting nonlinear governing equations from noisy data is a central challenge in the analysis of complicated nonlinear behaviors. Despite researchers follow the sparse identification nonlinear dynamics algorithm (SINDy) rule to restore nonlinear equations, there also exist obstacles. One is the excessive dependence on empirical parameters, which increases the difficulty of data pre-processing. Another one is the coexistence of multiple coefficient vectors, which causes the optimal solution to be drowned in multiple solutions. The third one is the composition of basic function, which is exclusively applicable to specific equations. In this article, a local sparse screening… More >

Nonlinear Dynamics of Duffing Oscillator with Time Delayed Term

    Haitao Liao

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.103, No.3, pp. 155-187, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.103.155

Abstract The improved constrained optimization harmonic balance method(COHBM) is presented to solve the Duffing oscillator with time delayed term. Within the framework of the proposed method, the analytical gradients of the objective function and nonlinear quality constraints with respect to optimization variables are formulated and the sensitivity information of the Fourier coefficients can also obtained. The general formulas of the geometrically nonlinear and time delayed terms are analytically derived, which makes the calculations of nonlinear differential equations in the frequency domain easily. A stability analysis method based on the analytical formulation of the nonlinear equality constraints More >

Finite-Element Nonlinear Dynamics of Flexible Structures in Three Dimensions

    S. Okamoto1, Y. Omura1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.4, No.2, pp. 287-300, 2003, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2003.004.287

Abstract The purpose of this study is to develop a procedure for performing a dynamic analysis in the case that a structure undergoes large translational and rotational displacements when moving along a nonlinear trajectory at variable velocity. Finite-element equations of motion that include the inertial force of the structure's motion have been derived. The equations also account for the geometric nonlinearity that has to be considered in a problem of finite translational and rotational displacements. A finite rotational matrix was used to transfer vectors or matrices measured in a certain coordinate frame to those measured in More >

Non-Linear Rigid Body Dynamics: Energy and Momentum Conserving Algorithm

    Fernando A. Rochinha1, Rubens Sampaio2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 7-18, 2000, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2000.001.167

Abstract The dynamics of flexible systems, such as robot manipulators, mechanical chains or cables, is becoming increasingly important in engineering. The main question arising from the numerical modelling of large overall motions of multibody systems is an appropriate treatment for the large rotations. In the present work an alternative approach is proposed leading to a time-stepping numerical algorithm which achieves stable solutions combined with high precision. In particular, in order to check the performance of the proposed approach, two examples having preserved constants of the motion are presented. More >
