    V. S. Sampath Kumara , N. P. Paia,† , B. Devakia

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.16, No.1, pp. 1-7, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.16.3

Abstract A study is carried out for the two dimensional laminar flow of conducting fluid in presence of magnetic field. The governing non-linear equations of motion are transformed in to dimensionaless form. A solution is obtained by homotopy perturbation method and it is valid for moderately large Reynolds numbers for injection at the wall. Also an efficient algorithm based finite difference scheme is developed to solve the reduced coupled ordinary differential equations with necessary boundary conditions. The effects of Reynolds number, the magnetic parameter and the pradantle number on flow velocity and tempratare distribution is analysed by both the methods and… More >

Abstract The analytical solution of the multi-dimensional, time-fractional model of Navier-Stokes equation using the triple and quadruple Elzaki transform decomposition method is presented in this article. The aforesaid model is analyzed by employing Caputo fractional derivative. We deliberated three stimulating examples that correspond to the triple and quadruple Elzaki transform decomposition methods, respectively. The findings illustrate that the established approaches are extremely helpful in obtaining exact and approximate solutions to the problems. The exact and estimated solutions are delineated via numerical simulation. The proposed analysis indicates that the projected configuration is extremely meticulous, highly efficient, and precise in understanding the behavior… More >

    Peng Wei1, Zirun Jiang1, Weipeng Xu1, Zhenyu Liu2, Yongbo Deng2,3, Minqiang Pan4,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 593-619, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.023978

Abstract In this paper, we consider solving the topology optimization for steady-state incompressible Navier-Stokes problems via a new topology optimization method called parameterized level set method, which can maintain a relatively smooth level set function with a local optimality condition. The objective of topology optimization is to find an optimal configuration of the fluid and solid materials that minimizes power dissipation under a prescribed fluid volume fraction constraint. An artificial friction force is added to the Navier-Stokes equations to apply the no-slip boundary condition. Although a great deal of work has been carried out for topology optimization of fluid flow in… More >

Abstract The numerical solution of compressible flows has become more prevalent than that of incompressible flows. With the help of the artificial compressibility approach, incompressible flows can be solved numerically using the same methods as compressible ones. The artificial compressibility scheme is thus widely used to numerically solve incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Any numerical method highly depends on its accuracy and speed of convergence. Although the artificial compressibility approach is utilized in several numerical simulations, the effect of the compressibility factor on the accuracy of results and convergence speed has not been investigated for nanofluid flows in previous studies. Therefore, this paper… More >

    Andrianantenaina Marcelin Hajamalala1,*, Ratovonarivo Noarijaona1, Zeghmati Belkacem2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 1737-1748, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022047

Abstract This work deals with the modeling of the unsteady Newtonian fluid flow associated with an open cylindrical reservoir. This reservoir presents a hole on the right bottom wall. Fluid volume variation, heat and mass transfers are neglected. The unsteady governing equations are based on the conservation of mass and momentum. A finite volume technique is used to solve the non-dimensional equations and related boundary conditions. The algebraic system of equations resulting from the discretization process are solved by means of the THOMAS algorithm. For pressure-velocity coupling, the SIMPLE algorithm (Semi Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equations) is used. Results for… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 2035-2055, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027830

Abstract To apply the fictitious domain method and conduct numerical experiments, a boundary value problem for an ordinary differential equation is considered. The results of numerical calculations for different values of the iterative parameter τ and the small parameter ε are presented. A study of the auxiliary problem of the fictitious domain method for Navier-Stokes equations with continuation into a fictitious subdomain by higher coefficients with a small parameter is carried out. A generalized solution of the auxiliary problem of the fictitious domain method with continuation by higher coefficients with a small parameter is determined. After all the above mathematical studies,… More >

Application of the Navier-Stokes Equations to the Analysis of the Landslide Sediments Permeability and Related Seepage Effects

    Meng Song1,*, Yuncai Liu2, Zhen Wang1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 313-327, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017737

Abstract The purpose of the study is to implement a new model based on the Navier-Stokes equations for the characterization of landslide sediments interacting with a moving fluid. The model is implemented by combining Hypermesh, the LS-DYNA software and MATLAB. The results show that the main factors affecting the permeability of landslide sediments are the genetic mechanism, the structure and composition of materials, material lithology, and stress. The characteristics and mechanism of permeability changes are determined by adjusting the water levels of fluids. It is found that the permeability of landslide sediments increases at the front and decreases in the middle… More >

A Meshless and Matrix-Free Approach to Modeling Turbulent Fluid Flow

Matthew Wilkinson, Javier Villarreal, Andrew Meade*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.3, pp. 1373-1393, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.017883

Abstract A meshless and matrix-free fluid dynamics solver (SOMA) is introduced that avoids the need for user generated and/or analyzed grids, volumes, and meshes. Incremental building of the approximation avoids creation and inversion of possibly dense block diagonal matrices and significantly reduces user interaction. Validation results are presented from the application of SOMA to subsonic, compressible, and turbulent flow over an adiabatic flat plate. More >

    Abd-Allah Hyder1, 2, *, M. El-Badawy3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.2, pp. 859-870, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09897

Abstract In this paper, the non-stationary incompressible fluid flows governed by the Navier-Stokes equations are studied in a bounded domain. This study focuses on the timefractional Navier-Stokes equations in the optimal control subject, where the control is distributed within the domain and the time-fractional derivative is proposed as RiemannLiouville sort. In addition, the control object is to minimize the quadratic cost functional. By using the Lax-Milgram lemma with the assistance of the fixed-point theorem, we demonstrate the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution to this system. Moreover, for a quadratic cost functional subject to the time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations, we prove… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.5, pp. 509-525, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.08266

Abstract A mathematical model for unsteady electro- and aerodynamic processes in the presence of a plasma actuator has been elaborated through physical modeling of the dielectric barrier discharge. A specialized computational fluid dynamics package has been developed accordingly in order to calculate steady and unsteady laminar and turbulent flows. For the numerical simulation of the dielectric barrier discharge, in particular, two equations have been added to the Navier-Stokes equations and solved. They describe the distribution of the applied voltage and the charged particles density. The impact of the plasma actuator on air has been accounted for through the Lorentz force, included… More >
