Abstract The ribosomal protein (RP)–p53 pathway has been shown to play a key role in apoptosis and senescence of cancer cells. miR-1908 is a newly found miRNA that was reported to have prognostic potential in melanoma. However, its role and mechanism in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are largely unknown. In this study, we found that expression of miR-1908 was significantly downregulated in human NSCLC cell lines, including SK-MES-1, A549, and NCI-H460. Then the role of miR-1908 in NSCLC cell proliferation was explored. The miR-1908 mimic was transfected into NSCLC cell lines, and… More >

Abstract Radiotherapy (RT) is an important treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the major obstacles to successful RT include the low radiosensitivity of cancer cells and the restricted radiation dose, which is given without damaging normal tissues. Therefore, the sensitizer that increases RT efficacy without dose escalation will be beneficial for NSCLC treatment. Eurycomalactone (ECL), an active quassinoid isolated from Eurycoma longifolia Jack, has been demonstrated to possess anticancer activity. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of ECL on sensitizing NSCLC cells to X-radiation (X-ray) as well as the underlying mechanisms. The… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 711-720, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.016714

Abstract The resistance of cancer cells to the anti-cancer drugs is the most important reason that affecting the efficacy of the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) chemotherapy; thus, to explore the underlying mechanism of drug resistance of NSCLC medications is urgently needed for improving the therapeutic efficacy of current anti-NSCLC chemotherapies. The aim of the present study is to explore the roles of exosomes in the chemosensitivity of A549 cells and the related mechanism. A549 cells and cisplatin resistant cell line A549/DDP derived exosomes were isolated, and the expressions of CXCR4 were compared. Then, after cisplatin… More >
