    Abstract

Continuous cropping (CC) obstacle is a major threat in legume crops production; however, the underlying mechanisms concerning the roles allelochemicals play in CC obstacle are poorly understood. The current 2-year study was conducted to investigate the effects of different kinds and concentrations of allelochemicals, p-hydroxybenzoic acid (H), cinnamic acid (C), phthalic acid (P), and their mixtures (M) on peanut root growth and productivity in response to CC obstacle. Treatment with H, C, P, and M significantly decreased the plant height, dry weight of the leaves and stems, number of branches, and length of the lateral

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 251-269, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022672 - 06 September 2022

Abstract In aquaculture, high-density seaweed farming brings higher economic benefits but also increases outbreaks of diatom felt. The effective control of diatom felt in high-density seaweed farming has always been a research hotspot. This study selected two potential allelochemicals 2-hydroxycinnamic acid and quinic acid to explore their effects on a diatom Nitzschia closterium and an economic seaweed Monostroma nitidum. The results showed that 2-hydroxycinnamic acid had better inhibitory effects than quinic acid on the growth, pigment content and photosynthetic efficiency of N. closterium. Their half-maximal inhibitory concentrations at 120 h (IC50–120 h) were 0.9000 and 1.278 mM, respectively. Additionally, these… More >

Improved Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization Algorithm for Modeling NOX Emissions of a Boiler

    Xia Li1,2, Peifeng Niu1,*, Jianping Liu2, Qing Liu2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.117, No.1, pp. 29-57, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.04020

Abstract An improved teaching-learning-based optimization (I-TLBO) algorithm is proposed to adjust the parameters of extreme learning machine with parallel layer perception (PELM), and a well-generalized I-TLBO-PELM model is obtained to build the model of NOX emissions of a boiler. In the I-TLBO algorithm, there are four major highlights. Firstly, a quantum initialized population by using the qubits on Bloch sphere replaces a randomly initialized population. Secondly, two kinds of angles in Bloch sphere are generated by using cube chaos mapping. Thirdly, an adaptive control parameter is added into the teacher phase to speed up the convergent speed. B.Y. Tian1, B. Tie1, D. Aubry1, X.Y. Su2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.76, No.3&4, pp. 217-234, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.076.217

Abstract The present work is devoted to a theoretical analysis and numerical modeling of elastic wave propagation firstly in a one-dimensional periodic elastic rod structure and then in two-dimensional periodic elastic beam structures by using Bloch wave theorem. The dispersion relation between Bloch wave vectors and eigen frequencies is obtained and its dependency upon the micro-structural characteristics of the periodic cellular structure is analyzed. Thanks to the Bloch wave transforms, only the primitive cell is considered theoretically or numerically and the phenomena of frequency band-gaps and the diffracted waves caused by the periodic cells are modeled More >

MARIO ALDO RAVAGLIA , MARÍA CRISTINA MAGGESE

    BIOCELL, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 325-337, 2002, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2002.26.325

Abstract Synbranchus marmoratus (Synbranchidae), commonly known as the swamp eel, is a protogynous diandric teleost fish widely distributed throughout South America. The purpose of this work was to study the ovarian anatomy and to describe oocyte developmental stages in the swamp eel, Synbranchus marmoratus.
    S. marmoratus has a unique sacular ovary. It is covered by a conspicuous muscular wall, probably involved in an egg-releasing system acting as a peristaltic-like mechanism. The internal ovarian anatomy shows a Ushaped ovarian lamella delimiting a dorsal ovarian lumen. The microscopic study shows evidence of the existence of a germinal epithelium in the… More >
