    Xiaojie Jiang1, Xin Li1, Yining Xu1, Dong Sun1, Julien S. Baker2, Yaodong Gu1,3,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.20, No.2, pp. 67-79, 2023, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2023.042910

    Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate whether kinematic data during a countermovement jump (CMJ) could explain the post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) effects following acute resistance exercise. Twenty-four male participants with resistance training and jumping experience were recruited and randomly assigned to either the experimental group (PAPE-stimulus) (n = 12) or the control group (n = 12). In the experimental group, participants performed 5 reps of squats at 80% 1RM to induce PAPE, while the control group received no intervention. Both groups performed three CMJ tests before (PRE) and at immediate (POST0), 4 (POST4), 8 (POST8), and 12 (POST12)… More > Graphic Abstract

    Fengfeng Li1, Huiyu Zhou1,2, Datao Xu1, Julien S. Baker3, Yaodong Gu1,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.19, No.3, pp. 115-129, 2022, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2022.022658

Abstract Research on dance lower extremity joint motion has been limited. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the lower limb biomechanics differences between the side chasse step (SCS) and the bounce step (BS) of the second landing phase in Jive. Thirteen female recreational Latin dancers (Age: 22 ± 2.5 years; Height: 1.65 ± 0.05 m; Weight: 50 ± 4.5 kg; Dance experience: 4 ± 2 years) were involved in the experiment. The same music was used throughout the data collection period. We intended to determine whether these two steps generate different kinematic and kinetic data. The ankle, hip, and knee joint angle, moment, velocity, and… More >

Development of A Low-Cost Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation and Mobility

    Muhatasim Intisar1, Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan1,*, Mehedi Masud2, Mohammad Shorfuzzaman2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 101-115, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019083

Abstract Paralysis is detrimental to people in catastrophic ways: losing income opportunities, becoming a burden to their friends and family, further physical deterioration, and the combination of these occurrences can often lead to depression. In third world countries, suffering from paralysis can be extra deleterious, where a large proportion of the population is engaged in some form of physical labor. The number of people exposed to paralysis risk factors is also increasing, with more and more people having hypertension, smoking, and other abnormalities. Besides, low workplace safety precautions may lead to an increased risk of spinal cord injury in developing nations.… More >

Motion Features of Legs in Volleyball Block Jump Based on Biomechanical Analysis

Zilin Li, Junjiang Wang, Yan Yang*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 87-97, 2021, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2021.014731

Abstract Blocking technology is one of the most important means to obtain score in volleyball, which has a great influence on the victory of the game. In this study, the vertical jump was analyzed to understand the movement characteristics of legs during training time. The kinematics and dynamics data of the legs of 10 volleyball players after training for 0 h, 0.5 h, 1 h and 2 h were studied by using an infrared light point motion capture system and force measuring platform. The results showed that the joint angles of the players who had 1 h and 2 h of… More >

Characteristics of Surface Electromyography of Forehand Smash of Badminton Players

    Chen Zhang*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 33-40, 2021, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2021.014352

Abstract To understand the characteristics of the forehand smash of badminton player and improve their performance, this study took eight badminton players as the subject, obtained the kinematics data through the Qualisys infrared high-speed camera, obtained the electromyography (EMG) data through the ME-6000 surface EMG test system, and compared and analyzed their forehand smash action. The results showed that the greater the angle and speed of different joints in the forehand smash was, the greater the speed and strength of hitting the ball was; the discharge amount of biceps brachii (BB) was the smallest, followed by triceps brachii (TB), flexor carpi… More >

Computer Vision Based Robotic Arm Controlled Using Interactive GUI

Muhatasim Intisar1, Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan1,*, Mohammad Rezaul Islam1, Mehedi Masud2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 533-550, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015482

Abstract This paper presents the design and implementation of a robotic vision system operated using an interactive Graphical User Interface (GUI) application. As robotics continue to become a more integral part of the industrial complex, there is a need for automated systems that require minimal to no user training to operate. With this motivation in mind, the system is designed so that a beginner user can operate the device with very little instruction. The application allows users to determine their desired object, which will be picked up and placed by a robotic arm into the target location. The application allows users… More >

The Kinematics and Surface Electromyography Characteristics of Round Kick of Martial Arts Athletes

    Xin Wang*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 189-198, 2020, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2020.011236

Abstract In order to improve the level of athletes, modern scientific and technological means can be used to understand the characteristics and rules of movement. This study mainly analyzed the whip leg technique of Sanda athletes. Taking ten athletes as an example, the kinematics and surface electromyography (sEMG) data of them were measured, calculated and sorted out when they were doing the action of round kick. The results showed that the movement completion time of the first-level athletes was shorter, 0.34 ± 0.33 s. In the stage of turning hip and hitting, the angle of hip joint increased significantly. In the… More >

Modeling Analysis for Positioning Error of Mobile Lidar Based on MultiBody System Kinematics

    Cang Peng1, Yu Zhenglin2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 827-835, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2019.100000086

Abstract The assembly error of the supporting component in Mobile Lidar has an inevitable influence on the positioning accuracy and the system error. In this paper, we applied the multi-body system kinematics principle and the homogeneous coordinate transformation to infer the final pointing error formula which influences the three-axis error model of the Mobile Lidar. The influence of each error item on the positioning accuracy (pointing accuracy) of radar system is analyzed by computer simulation, and the motion law between each axis of radar supporting component is discussed, which has laid the base for researching the positioning accuracy of Mobile Lidar. Belayat Hossaina, Takatoshi Morookab, Makiko Okunob, Manabu Niia, Shinichi Yoshiyab, Syoji Kobashia

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 105-115, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000034

Abstract This work aimed to predict postoperative knee functions of a new patient prior to total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery using machine learning, because such prediction is essential for surgical planning and for patients to better understand the TKA outcome. However, the main difficulty is to determine the relationships among individual varieties of preoperative and postoperative knee kinematics. The problem was solved by constructing predictive models from the knee kinematics data of 35 osteoarthritis patients, operated by posterior stabilized implant, based on generalized linear regression (GLR) analysis. Two prediction methods (without and with principal component analysis followed by GLR) along with… More >
