Robust and Efficient Federated Learning for Machinery Fault Diagnosis in Internet of Things

    Zhen Wu1,2, Hao Liu3, Linlin Zhang4, Zehui Zhang5,*, Jie Wu1, Haibin He1, Bin Zhou6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.87, No.1, 2026, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.075156 - 10 February 2026

Abstract Recently, Internet of Things (IoT) has been increasingly integrated into the automotive sector, enabling the development of diverse applications such as the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and intelligent connected vehicles. Leveraging IoV technologies, operational data from core vehicle components can be collected and analyzed to construct fault diagnosis models, thereby enhancing vehicle safety. However, automakers often struggle to acquire sufficient fault data to support effective model training. To address this challenge, a robust and efficient federated learning method (REFL) is constructed for machinery fault diagnosis in collaborative IoV, which can organize multiple companies to collaboratively More >

SDN-Enabled Content Dissemination Scheme for the Internet of Vehicles

    Abida Sharif1, Muhammad Imran Sharif1, Muhammad Attique Khan2, Nisar Ali2, Abdullah Alqahtani3, Majed Alhaisoni4, Ye Jin Kim5, Byoungchol Chang6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2383-2396, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033894 - 31 March 2023

Abstract The content-centric networking (CCN) architecture allows access to the content through name, instead of the physical location where the content is stored, which makes it a more robust and flexible content-based architecture. Nevertheless, in CCN, the broadcast nature of vehicles on the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) results in latency and network congestion. The IoV-based content distribution is an emerging concept in which all the vehicles are connected via the internet. Due to the high mobility of vehicles, however, IoV applications have different network requirements that differ from those of many other networks, posing new challenges. More >

Security and Privacy in 5G Internet of Vehicles (IoV) Environment

    Benjamin Kwapong Osibo1, Chengbo Zhang1, Changsen Xia1, Guanzhe Zhao2, Zilong Jin1,3,*

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 77-86, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2021.017943 - 15 July 2021

Abstract Modern vehicles are equipped with sensors, communication, and computation units that make them capable of providing monitoring services and analysis of real-time traffic information to improve road safety. The main aim of communication in vehicular networks is to achieve an autonomous driving environment that is accident-free alongside increasing road use quality. However, the demanding specifications such as high data rate, low latency, and high reliability in vehicular networks make 5G an emerging solution for addressing the current vehicular network challenges. In the 5G IoV environment, various technologies and models are deployed, making the environment open More >

Context and Machine Learning Based Trust Management Framework for Internet of Vehicles

Abdul Rehman1,*, Mohd Fadzil Hassan1, Yew Kwang Hooi1, Muhammad Aasim Qureshi2, Tran Duc Chung3, Rehan Akbar4, Sohail Safdar5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 4125-4142, 2021, DOI:10.32604/CMC.2021.017620 - 06 May 2021

Abstract Trust is one of the core components of any ad hoc network security system. Trust management (TM) has always been a challenging issue in a vehicular network. One such developing network is the Internet of vehicles (IoV), which is expected to be an essential part of smart cities. IoV originated from the merger of Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) and the Internet of things (IoT). Security is one of the main barriers in the on-road IoV implementation. Existing security standards are insufficient to meet the extremely dynamic and rapidly changing IoV requirements. Trust plays a… More >
