Aerial Images for Intelligent Vehicle Detection and Classification via YOLOv11 and Deep Learner

    Ghulam Mujtaba1,2,#, Wenbiao Liu1,#, Mohammed Alshehri3, Yahya AlQahtani4, Nouf Abdullah Almujally5, Hui Liu1,6,7,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.86, No.1, pp. 1-19, 2026, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.067895 - 10 November 2025

Abstract As urban landscapes evolve and vehicular volumes soar, traditional traffic monitoring systems struggle to scale, often failing under the complexities of dense, dynamic, and occluded environments. This paper introduces a novel, unified deep learning framework for vehicle detection, tracking, counting, and classification in aerial imagery designed explicitly for modern smart city infrastructure demands. Our approach begins with adaptive histogram equalization to optimize aerial image clarity, followed by a cutting-edge scene parsing technique using Mask2Former, enabling robust segmentation even in visually congested settings. Vehicle detection leverages the latest YOLOv11 architecture, delivering superior accuracy in aerial contexts… More >

Intelligent Vehicle Lane-Changing Strategy through Polynomial and Game Theory

Buwei Dang, Huanming Chen*, Heng Zhang, Jixian Wang, Jian Zhou

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.2, pp. 2003-2023, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.062653 - 16 April 2025

Abstract This paper introduces a lane-changing strategy aimed at trajectory planning and tracking control for intelligent vehicles navigating complex driving environments. A fifth-degree polynomial is employed to generate a set of potential lane-changing trajectories in the Frenet coordinate system. These trajectories are evaluated using non-cooperative game theory, considering the interaction between the target vehicle and its surroundings. Models considering safety payoffs, speed payoffs, comfort payoffs, and aggressiveness are formulated to obtain a Nash equilibrium solution. This way, collision avoidance is ensured, and an optimal lane change trajectory is planned. Three game scenarios are discussed, and the More >

Real-Time Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) Tuning Based on Back Propagation (BP) Neural Network for Intelligent Vehicle Motion Control

    Liang Zhou1, Qiyao Hu1,2,3,*, Xianlin Peng4,5, Qianlong Liu6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.2, pp. 2375-2401, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.061894 - 16 April 2025

Abstract Over 1.3 million people die annually in traffic accidents, and this tragic fact highlights the urgent need to enhance the intelligence of traffic safety and control systems. In modern industrial and technological applications and collaborative edge intelligence, control systems are crucial for ensuring efficiency and safety. However, deficiencies in these systems can lead to significant operational risks. This paper uses edge intelligence to address the challenges of achieving target speeds and improving efficiency in vehicle control, particularly the limitations of traditional Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers in managing nonlinear and time-varying dynamics, such as varying road conditions… More >

Traffic Sign Detection with Low Complexity for Intelligent Vehicles Based on Hybrid Features

    Sara Khalid1, Jamal Hussain Shah1,*, Muhammad Sharif1, Muhammad Rafiq2, Gyu Sang Choi3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.1, pp. 861-879, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035595 - 08 June 2023

Abstract Globally traffic signs are used by all countries for healthier traffic flow and to protect drivers and pedestrians. Consequently, traffic signs have been of great importance for every civilized country, which makes researchers give more focus on the automatic detection of traffic signs. Detecting these traffic signs is challenging due to being in the dark, far away, partially occluded, and affected by the lighting or the presence of similar objects. An innovative traffic sign detection method for red and blue signs in color images is proposed to resolve these issues. This technique aimed to devise… More >

Cognitive Granular-Based Path Planning and Tracking for Intelligent Vehicle with Multi-Segment Bezier Curve Stitching

    Xudong Wang1,2, Xueshuai Qin1, Huiyan Zhang2,*, Luis Ismael Minchala3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 385-400, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.036633 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Unmanned vehicles are currently facing many difficulties and challenges in improving safety performance when running in complex urban road traffic environments, such as low intelligence and poor comfort performance in the driving process. The real-time performance of vehicles and the comfort requirements of passengers in path planning and tracking control of unmanned vehicles have attracted more and more attentions. In this paper, in order to improve the real-time performance of the autonomous vehicle planning module and the comfort requirements of passengers that a local granular-based path planning method and tracking control based on multi-segment Bezier… More >

A Secured Message Transmission Protocol for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

    A. F. M. Suaib Akhter1,*, A. F. M. Shahen Shah2, Mohiuddin Ahmed3, Nour Moustafa4, Unal Çavuşoğlu1, Ahmet Zengin1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 229-246, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015447 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) become a very crucial addition in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). It is challenging for a VANET system to provide security services and parallelly maintain high throughput by utilizing limited resources. To overcome these challenges, we propose a blockchain-based Secured Cluster-based MAC (SCB-MAC) protocol. The nearby vehicles heading towards the same direction will form a cluster and each of the clusters has its blockchain to store and distribute the safety messages. The message which contains emergency information and requires Strict Delay Requirement (SDR) for transmission are called safety messages (SM).… More >
