    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.11, pp. 2617-2636, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.053186 - 28 October 2024

Abstract To analyze the effect of blade number on the performance of hydraulic turbines during the transient stage in which the flow rate is not constant, six hydraulic turbines with different blade numbers are considered. The instantaneous hydraulic performance of the turbine and the pressure pulsation acting on the impeller are investigated numerically by using the ANSYS CFX software. The ensuing results are compared with the outcomes of experimental tests. It is shown that the fluctuation range of the pressure coefficient increases with time, but the corresponding range for the transient hydraulic efficiency decreases gradually when… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.5, pp. 1123-1146, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.043272 - 07 June 2024

Abstract This study focuses on a DN50 pipeline-type Savonius hydraulic turbine. The torque variation of the turbine in a rotation cycle is analyzed theoretically in the framework of the plane potential flow theory. Related numerical simulations show that the change in turbine torque is consistent with the theoretical analysis, with the main power zone and the secondary power zone exhibiting a positive torque. In contrast, the primary resistance zone and the secondary resistance zone are characterized by a negative torque. Analytical relationships between the turbine’s internal flow angle θ, the deflector’s inclination angle α, and the… More >

Numerical Study of the Effect of Splitter Blades on the Flow-Induced Noise of Hydraulic Turbine

    Fengxia Shi1,2, Guangbiao Zhao1,*, Yucai Tang1, Haonan Zhan1, Pengcheng Wang1

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.58, pp. 101-117, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sv.2024.047082 - 11 March 2024

Abstract In order to study the effect of splitter blades on the internal and external sound field of the hydraulic turbine, the paper chose a centrifugal pump with a specific speed ns = 33 reversed as a hydraulic turbine as the research object, and added the short blades on the original impeller to form a new splitter impeller. Based on the Re-Normalization Group (RNG) k-ε turbulence model to conduct numerical simulation for the hydraulic turbine, this thesis calculated the internal and external acoustic field by means of the acoustic boundary element (BEM) and finite element (FEM) and… More >

Influence of Different Transition Modes on the Performances of a Hydraulic Turbine

    Fengxia Shi1,2, Yucai Tang1,*, Dedong Ma1, Xiangyun Shi1, Guangbiao Zhao1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2481-2497, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.028416 - 25 June 2023

Abstract In order to analyze the response of a hydraulic turbine to a variation in the operating conditions, different laws of variation in time of the mass flow rate have been considered. After validating the overall numerical framework through comparison with relevant experiments, the performances of the considered turbine have been analyzed from a fluid-dynamic point of view. The results show that different time profiles of the mass flow rate (in this work, for simplicity, referred to as “transition functions”) have a varying influence on the transient behavior of the turbine. Ji Liang1, Zhihuan Chen2,*, Xiaohui Yuan1,3,*, Binqiao Zhang3, Yanbin Yuan4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.2, pp. 603-629, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09328 - 01 May 2020

Abstract Terminal sliding mode controller method is introduced to enhance the regulation performance of the hydraulic turbine governing system (HTGS). For the purpose of describing the characteristics of controlled system and deducing the control rule, a nonlinear mathematic model of hydraulic turbine governing system with bifurcated penstocks (HTGSBF) under control input saturation is established, and the input/output state linearization feedback approach is used to obtain the relationship between turbine speed and controller output. To address the control input saturation problem, an adaptive assistant system is designed to compensate for controller truncation. Numerical simulations have been conducted… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.1, pp. 1-8, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2016.1261955

Abstract This paper proposes a dimension root distance and its similarity measure of single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs), and then develops the fault diagnosis method of hydraulic turbine by using the dimension root similarity measure of SVNSs. By the similarity measures between the fault diagnosis patterns and a testing sample with single-valued neutrosophic information and the relation indices, we can determine the main fault type and the ranking order of various vibration faults for predicting some possible fault trend. Then, the comparison of the fault diagnoses of hydraulic turbine based of the proposed dimension root similarity measure More >
