Response of Bacterial Community and Enzyme Activity of Greenhouse Tomato under Different Irrigation Systems

    Haijian Yang1, Mingzhi Zhang1,*, Na Xiao1, Yuan Li2

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.7, pp. 1543-1568, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.050915 - 30 July 2024

Abstract The micro-sprinkler irrigation mulched (MSM) has been suggested as a novel water-saving approach in controlled environment agriculture. However, the effects of microbial community structure and enzyme activity in the rhizosphere soil on crop growth under MSM remain unclear. This study conducted a randomized experimental design using greenhouse tomatoes to investigate changes in bacterial community structure and enzyme activity in rhizosphere soil under different irrigation frequencies (F) and amounts (I) of MSM. The findings revealed that with the increase of F or I, The total count of soil bacteria in tomatoes first rose and then fell… More >

    Abstract

The utilization of aquaculture wastewater as irrigation is an effective way to recycle and reuse water and nitrogen fertilizer resources because it contains numerous nutrients. However, it is still unclear that the pattern of substituting aquaculture wastewater irrigation for fertilizer supplementing is conducive to improving the soil nitrogen status, fruit yield and water-fertilizer use efficiency for tomato production. In this context, the experiment was intended to establish the appropriate irrigation regime of aquaculture wastewater in tomato production for freshwater replacement and fertilizer reduction to ensure good yields. Pot experiments were conducted with treatments as farmers

Soil Fungal Community Structure Changes in Response to Different Long-Term Fertilization Treatments in a Greenhouse Tomato Monocropping System

Xiaomei Zhang, Junliang Li, Bin Liang*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.4, pp. 1233-1246, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.014962 - 27 April 2021

Abstract Greenhouse vegetable cultivation (GVC) is an example of intensive agriculture aiming to increase crop yields by extending cultivation seasons and intensifying agricultural input. Compared with cropland, studies on the effects of farming management regimes on soil microorganisms of the GVC system are rare, and our knowledge is limited. In the present study, we assessed the impacts of different long-term fertilization regimes on soil fungal community structure changes in a greenhouse that has been applied in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cultivation for 11 consecutive years. Results showed that, when taking the non-fertilizer treatment of CK as a… More >
