BN-GEPSO: Learning Bayesian Network Structure Using Generalized Particle Swarm Optimization

    Muhammad Saad Salman1, Ibrahim M. Almanjahie2,3, AmanUllah Yasin1, Ammara Nawaz Cheema1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 4217-4229, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.034960

Abstract At present Bayesian Networks (BN) are being used widely for demonstrating uncertain knowledge in many disciplines, including biology, computer science, risk analysis, service quality analysis, and business. But they suffer from the problem that when the nodes and edges increase, the structure learning difficulty increases and algorithms become inefficient. To solve this problem, heuristic optimization algorithms are used, which tend to find a near-optimal answer rather than an exact one, with particle swarm optimization (PSO) being one of them. PSO is a swarm intelligence-based algorithm having basic inspiration from flocks of birds (how they search for food). PSO is employed… More >

Soil Moisture Prediction in Peri-urban Beijing, China: Gene Expression Programming Algorithm

    Hongfei Niu1,2, Fanyu Meng3, Huanfang Yue3, Lihong Yang4, Jing Dong2,5, Xin Zhang2,5,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 93-106, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.010131

Abstract Soil moisture is an important indicator for agricultural planting and agricultural water management. People have been trying to guide crop cultivation, formulate irrigation systems, and develop intelligent agriculture by knowing exactly what the soil moisture is in real time. This paper considers the impact of meteorological parameters on soil-moisture change and proposes a soil-moisture prediction method based on the Gene Expression Programming (GEP) algorithm. The prediction model is tested on datasets from Shunyi, Yanqing and Daxing agricultural farms, Beijing. The results show that the GEP model can predict soil moisture with a maximum correlation coefficient of 0.98, and the root-mean-square… More >

Safety Performance of a Precast Concrete Barrier: Numerical Study

    Zishen Li1, Xiangling Gao1, *, Zicheng Tang2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.3, pp. 1105-1129, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09047

Abstract The numerical simulation for a new type of precast concrete barrier for viaducts is carried out systematically. To obtain an accurate representation of the damage state of the concrete barrier under the impact of a vehicle, a stochastic damage-plasticity model of the concrete is adopted in the finite element model. Meanwhile, a simplified mathematical model of the impact between vehicles and the concrete barrier was established and the input energy was converted to the impact load to facilitate the investigation of the safety performance of the concrete barriers. On this basis, a refined finite element (FE) model of a precast… More >

Visualization Analysis for Business Performance of Chinese Listed Companies Based on Gephi

    Guang Sun1, Hongzhang Lv1, *, Dianyu Wang2, Xiaoping Fan1, 3, Yi Zuo1, Yanfei Xiao4, Xu Liu1, Wenqian Xiang1, Ziyi Guo1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.2, pp. 959-977, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08619

Abstract When conducting company performance evaluations, the traditional method cannot reflect the distribution characteristics of the company’s operating conditions in the entire securities market. Gephi is an efficient tool for data analysis and visualization in the era of big data. It can convert the evaluation results of all listed companies into nodes and edges, and directly display them in the form of graphs, thus making up for the defects of traditional methods. This paper will take all the listed companies in the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange as the analysis object. First uses tushare and web crawlers to collect the financial… More >

The population ecology of Securidaca longepedunculata Fresen. in the Nylsvley Nature Reserve, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Tshisikhawe MP, O Baloyi, MH Ligavha-Mbelengwa, RB Bhat

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.81, pp. 107-112, 2012, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2012.81.107

Abstract Securidaca longepedunculata Fresen., commonly known as the violet tree, belongs to the family Polygalaceae. It is widely distributed in tropical Africa, Mozambique, as well as in the North- West and Limpopo provinces of South Africa. The Vhavenda people use the roots of this species as an aphrodisiac. The species is co-dominant in the savanna vegetation of the Nylsvley Nature Reserve. This research looked at the ecology of the study species within the Nylsvley Nature Reserve because of its importance there. Understanding the population structure and environmental factors that impact on the species might help in assessing the population in urban… More >
