VHO Algorithm for Heterogeneous Networks of UAV-Hangar Cluster Based on GA Optimization and Edge Computing

    Siliang Chen1, Dongri Shan2,*, Yansheng Niu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.85, No.3, pp. 5263-5286, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.067892 - 23 October 2025

Abstract With the increasing deployment of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-Hangar (UAV-H) clusters in dynamic environments such as disaster response and precision agriculture, existing networking schemes often struggle with adaptability to complex scenarios, while traditional Vertical Handoff (VHO) algorithms fail to fully address the unique challenges of UAV-H systems, including high-speed mobility and limited computational resources. To bridge this gap, this paper proposes a heterogeneous network architecture integrating 5th Generation Mobile Communication Technology (5G) cellular networks and self-organizing mesh networks for UAV-H clusters, accompanied by a novel VHO algorithm. The proposed algorithm leverages Multi-Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) theory combined… More >

A Feature Selection Method for Software Defect Prediction Based on Improved Beluga Whale Optimization Algorithm

Shaoming Qiu, Jingjie He, Yan Wang*, Bicong E

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.3, pp. 4879-4898, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.061532 - 19 May 2025

Abstract Software defect prediction (SDP) aims to find a reliable method to predict defects in specific software projects and help software engineers allocate limited resources to release high-quality software products. Software defect prediction can be effectively performed using traditional features, but there are some redundant or irrelevant features in them (the presence or absence of this feature has little effect on the prediction results). These problems can be solved using feature selection. However, existing feature selection methods have shortcomings such as insignificant dimensionality reduction effect and low classification accuracy of the selected optimal feature subset. In… More >

An Optimized System of Random Forest Model by Global Harmony Search with Generalized Opposition-Based Learning for Forecasting TBM Advance Rate

    Yingui Qiu1, Shuai Huang1, Danial Jahed Armaghani2, Biswajeet Pradhan3, Annan Zhou4, Jian Zhou1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2873-2897, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029938 - 15 December 2023

Abstract As massive underground projects have become popular in dense urban cities, a problem has arisen: which model predicts the best for Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) performance in these tunneling projects? However, performance level of TBMs in complex geological conditions is still a great challenge for practitioners and researchers. On the other hand, a reliable and accurate prediction of TBM performance is essential to planning an applicable tunnel construction schedule. The performance of TBM is very difficult to estimate due to various geotechnical and geological factors and machine specifications. The previously-proposed intelligent techniques in this field… More >

Multi-Objective Optimization of Traffic Signal Timing at Typical Junctions Based on Genetic Algorithms

    Zeyu Zhang1, Han Zhu1, Wei Zhang1, Zhiming Cai2,*, Linkai Zhu2, Zefeng Li2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 1901-1917, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.039395 - 28 July 2023

Abstract With the rapid development of urban road traffic and the increasing number of vehicles, how to alleviate traffic congestion is one of the hot issues that need to be urgently addressed in building smart cities. Therefore, in this paper, a nonlinear multi-objective optimization model of urban intersection signal timing based on a Genetic Algorithm was constructed. Specifically, a typical urban intersection was selected as the research object, and drivers’ acceleration habits were taken into account. What’s more, the shortest average delay time, the least average number of stops, and the maximum capacity of the intersection… More >
