The Influence of Chemical Admixtures on the Fluidity, Viscosity and Rheological Properties of Ultra-High Performance Concrete

    Jin Yang1,2, Hailong Zhao1, Jingyi Zeng1, Ying Su1,2, Mengdi Zhu1, Xingyang He1,2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.10, pp. 2163-2181, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.055448 - 23 September 2024

Abstract To achieve higher strength and better durability, ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) typically employs a relatively small water-binder ratio. However, this generally leads to an undesired increase in the paste viscosity. In this study, the effects of liquid and powder polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCE) on UHPC are compared and critically discussed. Moreover, the following influential factors are considered: air-entraining agents (AE), slump retaining agents (SA), and defoaming agents (DF) and the resulting flow characteristics, mechanical properties, and hydration properties are evaluated assuming UHPC containing 8‰ powder PCE (PCE-based UHPC). It is found that the spread diameter of… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.9, pp. 1941-1956, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.053910 - 23 August 2024

Abstract Due to the low water-cement ratio of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), fluidity and shrinkage cracking are key aspects determining the performance and durability of this type of concrete. In this study, the effects of different types of cementitious materials, chemical shrinkage-reducing agents (SRA) and steel fiber (SF) were assessed. Compared with M2-UHPC and M3-UHPC, M1-UHPC was found to have better fluidity and shrinkage cracking performance. Moreover, different SRA incorporation methods, dosage and different SF types and aspect ratios were implemented. The incorporation of SRA and SF led to a decrease in the fluidity of UHPC. SRA More >

Fluid-Related Performances and Compressive Strength of Clinker-Free Cementitious Backfill Material Based on Phosphate Tailings

    Jin Yang1,2, Senye Liu1, Xingyang He1,2,*, Ying Su1,2, Jingyi Zeng2, Bohumír Strnadel1,3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.9, pp. 2077-2090, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.050360 - 23 August 2024

Abstract Phosphate tailings are usually used as backfill material in order to recycle tailings resources. This study considers the effect of the mix proportions of clinker-free binders on the fluidity, compressive strength and other key performances of cementitious backfill materials based on phosphate tailings. In particular, three solid wastes, phosphogypsum (PG), semi-aqueous phosphogypsum (HPG) and calcium carbide slag (CS), were selected to activate wet ground granulated blast furnace slag (WGGBS) and three different phosphate tailings backfill materials were prepared. Fluidity, rheology, settling ratio, compressive strength, water resistance and ion leaching behavior of backfill materials were determined.… More > Graphic Abstract

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.11, pp. 3945-3956, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.027544 - 31 October 2023

Abstract The aim of this study is to enhance the value and utilization of red mud generated in the Bayer process by preparing composite cement mortars. The effects of two different types of Bayer red mud with varying physical and chemical characteristics on the fluidity, mechanical strength, mineral composition, and microstructure of the composite cement mortar were systematically evaluated. The results showed that the optimal addition of red mud A was 10 wt%, while it was 20 wt% for red mud B. The mechanical properties of the composite cement mortar met the standards for P·O42.5 cement. Fluidity Influencing Factor Analysis and Ratio Optimization of New Filling Slurry Based on the Response Surface Method

Guanfeng Chang, Xinzhu Hua*, Xiao Liu, Chen Li, Enqian Wang, Bingjun Sun

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.5, pp. 1439-1458, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018607 - 22 December 2021

Abstract The filling mining method is important in realizing the green mining of mineral resources. Aiming at the problems of land resource occupation, environmental pollution, and rational utilization of coal-based solid wastes such as coal gangue, fly ash, and desulfurization gypsum, a new paste filling material was developed with coal gangue, fly ash, and desulfurization gypsum as raw materials. The microstructure of the raw materials was analyzed by XRD and SEM. Combined with the Box-Behnken experimental design, the effect of each component on the fluidity of the filling slurry was analyzed through the response surface analysis.… More > Graphic Abstract

    BIOCELL, Vol.41, No.2-3, pp. 45-54, 2017, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2017.41.045

Abstract Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) plays a vital role in mediating the adaptability of tumor cells under mechanical stimuli. Previous studies revealed that FAK can locate to different cell compartments, and its regulation is highly dependent on its subcellular localization. However, the local FAK activities and its regulation mechanism in different cell compartments of tumor cells in response to fluid shear stress are still unclear. In this study, 5 dyn/cm2 and 20 dyn/cm2 of shear stress was applied to HeLa cells for 30 min. The activities of FAK targeting different subcellular compartments (lipids rafts, non-rafts, focal adhesions… More >
