Experimental Evaluation of Individual Hotspots of a Multicore Microprocessor Using Pulsating Heat Sources

Rodrigo Vidonscky Pinto1, Flávio Augusto Sanzovo Fiorelli2,*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.21, pp. 427-443, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.041917 - 30 November 2023

Abstract The present work provides an experimental and numerical procedure to obtain the geometrical position of the hotspots of a microprocessor using the thermal images obtained from the transient thermal response of this processor subject to pulsating stress tests. This is performed by the solution of the steady inverse heat transfer problem using these thermal images, resulting in qualitative heat source distributions; these are analyzed using the mean heat source gradients to identify the elements that can be considered hotspots. This procedure identified that the processor INTEL Core 2 Quad Q8400S contains one hotspot located in More >

Experimental Evaluation of Compressive Strength and Gas Permeability of Glass-Powder-Containing Mortar

Yue Liang, Wenxuan Dai, Wei Chen*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2639-2659, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.027622 - 25 June 2023

Abstract Glass powder of various particle sizes (2, 5, 10 and 15 μm) has been assessed as a possible cement substitute for mortars. Different replacement rates of cement (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) have been considered for all particle sizes. The accessible porosity, compressive strength, gas permeability and microstructure have been investigated accordingly. The results have shown that adding glass powder up to 20% has a significantly negative effect on the porosity and compressive strength of mortar. The compressive strength initially rises with a 5% replacement and then decreases. Similarly, the gas permeability of the mortar displays… More >

Saeed Ahmed Magsi1,2,*, Mohd Haris Bin Md Khir1, Illani Bt Mohd Nawi1, Muath Al Hasan3, Zaka Ullah3, Fasih Ullah Khan4, Abdul Saboor5, Muhammad Aadil Siddiqui1,2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 845-862, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033636 - 06 February 2023

Abstract Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain has been the subject of interest for researchers. There is an increasing demand to localize these IoT devices using LoRaWAN due to the quickly growing number of IoT devices. LoRaWAN is well suited to support localization applications in IoTs due to its low power consumption and long range. Multiple approaches have been proposed to solve the localization problem using LoRaWAN. The Expected Signal Power (ESP) based trilateration algorithm has the significant potential for localization because ESP can identify the signal’s energy below… More >

Experimental Evaluation of Flexural Behavior of Stress Laminated Timber Decks

    Qingguo Ben1, Congcong Zhang2, Benkai Shi2, Huifeng Yang2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3599-3610, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022344 - 14 July 2022

Abstract Stress laminated timber (SLT) deck is assembled using timber (lumber or glulam) components placed side by side and stressed together, which has the advantages of easy prefabrication and good cost performance. This work presented an experimental investigation of bending tests performed on SLT slabs. Several parameters, including prestress levels, distance of pre-stressing bars, and the existence of self-tapping screw (STS) reinforcement, were taken into consideration. To reinforce the compressive property of timber perpendicular to the grain, the STSs were placed under the anchor plate of the pre-stressed bars. The experimental results were analyzed and discussed More > Graphic Abstract

Experimental Evaluation of the Mechanical Properties of Cement Sheath under High-Temperature Conditions

    Pei Zou1, Zhiqiang Huang1,*, Yian Tong2, Leichuan Tan3, Rui Li4, Kai Wei1,5, Deng Qiao1,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 689-699, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.019470 - 22 February 2022

Abstract The sealing integrity of cement sheath in offshore wells is seriously threatened under high-temperature conditions, resulting in gas channeling and other problems. Given the lack of experimental results, in this study relevant samples of a cement slurry sealing section of a typical offshore high-temperature well have been prepared and analyzed. In particular, the mechanical properties have been assessed with a triaxial pressure servo instrument and a high-temperature curing kettle. The density and the Poisson’s ratio of the samples have also been tested. The stress-strain curve has been drawn to obtain the elastic modulus and the More >

Experimental Evaluation of Clickbait Detection Using Machine Learning Models

    Iftikhar Ahmad1,*, Mohammed A. Alqarni2, Abdulwahab Ali Almazroi3, Abdullah Tariq1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.6, pp. 1335-1344, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.013861 - 24 December 2020

Abstract The exponential growth of social media has been instrumental in directing the news outlets to rely on the stated platform for the dissemination of news stories. While social media has helped in the fast propagation of breaking news, it also has allowed many bad actors to exploit this medium for political and monetary purposes. With such an intention, tempting headlines, which are not aligned with the content, are being used to lure users to visit the websites that often post dodgy and unreliable information. This phenomenon is commonly known as clickbait. A number of machine… More >

Experimental Evaluation of Fiber Orientation Based Material Properties of Skeletal Muscle in Tension

Chetan D. Kuthe, R.V. Uddanwadiker, Alankar Ramteke

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 113-128, 2014, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2014.011.113

Abstract Biomechanical researches are essential to develop new techniques to improve the clinical relevance. Skeletal muscle generates the force which results in the motion of human body, so it is essential to study the mechanical and structural properties of skeletal muscle. Many researchers have carried out mechanical study of skeletal muscle with in-vivo testing. This work aims to examine anisotropic mechanical behavior of skeletal muscle with in vitro test (tensile test). It is important to understand the mechanical and structural behavior of skeletal muscle when it is subjected to external loading; the research aims to determine… More >
