Optimizing Efficiency and Performance in a Rankine Cycle Power Plant Analysis

Ramesh Kumar1,2, Abdullah Bin Queyam3, Manish Kumar Singla1,4,*, Mohamed Louzazni5, Mishra Dipak Kumar6

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.4, pp. 1373-1386, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.058058 - 31 March 2025

Abstract Enhancing the efficiency of Rankine cycles is crucial for improving the performance of thermal power plants, as it directly impacts operational costs and emissions in light of energy transition goals. This study sets itself apart from existing research by applying a novel optimization technique to a basic ideal Rankine cycle, focusing on a specific power plant that has not been previously analyzed. Currently, this cycle operates at 41% efficiency and a steam quality of 76%, constrained by fixed operational parameters. The primary objectives are to increase thermal efficiency beyond 46% and raise steam quality above… More >

Abstract Hydrodynamic cavitation, as an efficient technique applied in many physical and chemical treatment methods, has been widely used by various industries and in several technological fields. Relevant generators, designed with specific structures and parameters, can produce cavitation effects, thereby enabling effective treatment and reasonable transformation of substances. This paper reviews the design principles, performance, and practical applications associated with different types of cavitation generators, aiming to provide theoretical support for the optimization of these systems. It systematically analyzes the underpinning mechanisms and the various factors influencing the cavitation phenomena, also conducting a comparative analysis of More > Graphic Abstract

Numerical simulation of the effect of gradual substitution of sulfur with selenium or tin with germanium in Cu2ZnSnS4 absorber layer on kesterite solar cell efficiency

    N. Messeia,*, M. S. Aidab, A. Attafa, N. Hamania, S. Laznekc

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.20, No.2, pp. 165-175, 2023, DOI:10.15251/CL.2023.202.165

Abstract To enhance the efficiency of kesterite Cu2ZnSnS4 solar cell, different gradient strategies are investigated. Absorber layer gradient is obtained by partial substitution of sulfur with selenium or tin with germanium. The PV Parameters are calculated using the SCAPS1D program. The effect of the front, back, and double gradient on the cell parameters was investigated. We proposed also the fully graded gap absorber layer profile. The opencircuit voltage has increased to 1.040V, the fill factor has increased to 71.69%, and the efficiency has exceeded 22.95%. In contrast to other types of gradients, the short-circuit current density remains More >

Resource Allocation Using Phase Change Hyper Switching Algorithm in the Cloud Environment

    J. Praveenchandar1,*, A. Tamilarasi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 1839-1850, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.026354 - 25 May 2022

Abstract Cloud computing is one of the emerging technology; it provides various services like Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Infrastructure as a Service on demand. It reduces the cost of traditional computing by renting the resources instead of buying them for a huge cost. The usage of cloud resources is increasing day by day. Due to the heavy workload, all users cannot get uninterrupted service at some time. And the response time of some users also gets increased. Resource allocation is one of the primary issues of a cloud environment, one of… More >

Rongge Xiaoa,*, Yanwei Zhanga , Xu Gaob , Hongping Yuc , Wangying Weia

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.15, pp. 1-8, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.15.22

Abstract In order to improve DMR (double mixed refrigerant) liquefaction process and reduce operation cost of natural gas liquefaction plant, a four-stage DMR process optimization simulation calculation model was established through Aspen Hysys v8.4 and the purpose of the optimization model is achieved by using the segmented compression process in this paper. The minimum energy consumption and the highest exergy efficiency were used as the objective functions. By using the optimizer in HYSYS, the process parameters and ingredient proportion of the mixed refrigerant in the fourstage DMR process was optimized, and the best process parameters and More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.3, pp. 153-164, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.010706 - 10 July 2020

Abstract The improvement of energy efficiency is considered as one of the keys to the sustainable development of manufacturing enterprises. This paper proposes an energy efficiency improvement method for the manufacturing process. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of energy consumption in the manufacturing process, a necessary energy consumption model, an assistant energy consumption model and an ineffective energy consumption model are constructed for identifying the energy consumption attributes of the manufacturing process. Then, the relationship model of energy consumption is built, and the energy efficiency improvement method for the manufacturing process is proposed based More >

Efficiency improvement of vibration-base piezoelectric energy harvesting device

Bo Mi Lee, In-Ho Kim, Hyung-Jo Jung

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 19-20, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.019.019

Abstract Vibration energy harvesting, which converts ambient vibration energy into electrical energy, has been an attractive energy scavenging technique to power wireless sensors or low power devices. Even though vibration energy harvesting has drawbacks which are relatively low harvested power and narrow bandwidth, vibration energy scavenging is one of the promising alternative power techniques in that MEMS techniques can be applied to microminiaturize the system. Therefore, many researches have been done to overcome these problems(Lee et al.2010). This paper presents improvement efficiency on piezoelectric vibration energy harvesting device to surmount issues of vibration energy harvesting. Numerical More >
