Mutations du gène ESR1 : du fondamental à la clinique
ESR1 Mutations: From Benchside to Bedside

    V. Massard, A. Harlé, L. Uwer, J.-L. Merlin

    Oncologie, Vol.21, No.1, pp. 29-32, 2019, DOI:10.3166/onco-2019-0027

Abstract Acquired endocrine resistance remains one of the main obstacles in the treatment of estrogen receptor (ER) positive, HER2 negative advanced breast cancer. Recently, activating ESR1 gene mutations affecting the ligand-binding domain have been identified as a key mechanism in aromatase inhibitor (AI) resistance. These mutations can be detected on histological samples or circulating tumour DNA, using PCRbased assays or next-generation sequencing. They induce a constitutive activation of ER, leading to acquired resistance to AI; tamoxifen, fulvestrant and targeted therapies against mTOR or CDK4/6 retain their efficacy. The use of monitoring ESR1 mutations in clinical practice is still to be defined.… More >

Bonding Mechanism of Bamboo Particleboards Made by Laccase Treatment

    Jin Wang1, Weigang Zhang2,*, Xiaowei Zhuang1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.3, pp. 557-568, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.013269

Abstract Using 1–8 years bamboo as materials, the content of different chemical constituent was tested, and the reactive oxygen species (ROS) free radicals produced from laccase treated bamboo were detected by electron spin-resonance (ESR) spectroscope. The wet-process particleboard was made from laccase-treated bamboo by hot pressing and board mechanical properties including internal bond strength (IB), modulus of rupture (MOR) and thickness swelling (TS) after 2-hours water absorption were tested under different conditions. Results showed that laccase mainly catalyze the bamboo components and improved the bonding strength of laccase-treated boards. By ESR measurement on each single component such as milled bamboo lignin,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.3, pp. 2591-2605, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011892

Abstract The prediction of human diseases, particularly COVID-19, is an extremely challenging task not only for medical experts but also for the technologists supporting them in diagnosis and treatment. To deal with the prediction and diagnosis of COVID-19, we propose an Internet of Medical Things-based Smart Monitoring Hierarchical Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System (IoMTSM-HMFIS). The proposed system determines the various factors like fever, cough, complete blood count, respiratory rate, Ct-chest, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein, family history, and antibody detection (lgG) that are directly involved in COVID-19. The expert system has two input variables in layer 1, and seven input variables… More >

Recent Evolution of the Simulation Tools for Computer Aided Design of Electron-optical Systems for Powerful Gyrotrons

    S. Sabchevski1, I. Zhelyazkov2, M. Thumm3, S. Illy4, B. Piosczyk5, T.-M. Tran6,7, J. Gr. Pagonakis8

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.20, No.3, pp. 203-220, 2007, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2007.020.203

Abstract Computer aided design of powerful gyrotrons for electron cyclotron resonance heating and current drive of fusion plasmas requires adequate physical models and efficient software packages for analysis, comparison and optimization of their electron-optical systems through numerical experiments. In this paper, we present and discuss the current status of the simulation tools available to the researchers involved in the development of multi-megawatt gyrotrons for the ITER project, review some of their recent upgrades and formulate directions for further modifications and improvements. Illustrative examples used represent results from recent numerical investigations of real constructions. Some physical problems that are outside of the… More >
