Overview and Prospect of Distributed Energy P2P Trading

Jiajia Liu*, Mingxing Tian, Xusheng Mao

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 379-404, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.058137 - 27 December 2024

Abstract After a century of relative stability in the electricity sector, the widespread adoption of distributed energy resources, along with recent advancements in computing and communication technologies, has fundamentally altered how energy is consumed, traded, and utilized. This change signifies a crucial shift as the power system evolves from its traditional hierarchical organization to a more decentralized approach. At the heart of this transformation are innovative energy distribution models, like peer-to-peer (P2P) sharing, which enable communities to collaboratively manage their energy resources. The effectiveness of P2P sharing not only improves the economic prospects for prosumers, who… More >

    Jie Ma1, Tong Zhao2, Yuanzhao Hao3, Wenwen Qin2, Haozheng Yu1, Mingxuan Du2, Yuanhong Liu4, Liang Zhang2, Shixia Mu5, Cuiping Li2, Junhui Li2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.9, pp. 2449-2477, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.051244 - 19 August 2024

Abstract After the integration of large-scale Distributed Generation (DG) into the distribution network, the randomness and volatility of its output result in a reduction of spatiotemporal alignment between power generation and demand in the distribution network, exacerbating the phenomenon of wind and solar power wastage. As a novel power system model, the fundamental concept of Regional Autonomous Power Grids (RAPGs) is to achieve localized management and energy autonomy, thereby facilitating the effective consumption of DGs. Therefore, this paper proposes a distributed resource planning strategy that enhances the autonomy capabilities of regional power grids by considering multiple… More > Graphic Abstract

Optimal Bidding Strategies of Microgrid with Demand Side Management for Economic Emission Dispatch Incorporating Uncertainty and Outage of Renewable Energy Sources

    Mousumi Basu1, Chitralekha Jena2, Baseem Khan3,4,*, Ahmed Ali4

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.4, pp. 849-867, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.043294 - 26 March 2024

Abstract In the restructured electricity market, microgrid (MG), with the incorporation of smart grid technologies, distributed energy resources (DERs), a pumped-storage-hydraulic (PSH) unit, and a demand response program (DRP), is a smarter and more reliable electricity provider. DER consists of gas turbines and renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic systems and wind turbines. Better bidding strategies, prepared by MG operators, decrease the electricity cost and emissions from upstream grid and conventional and renewable energy sources (RES). But it is inefficient due to the very high sporadic characteristics of RES and the very high outage rate. To More >

Distribution Network Optimization Model of Industrial Park with Distributed Energy Resources under the Carbon Neutral Targets

    Xiaobao Yu*, Kang Yang

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.12, pp. 2741-2760, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.028041 - 29 November 2023

Abstract Taking an industrial park as an example, this study aims to analyze the characteristics of a distribution network that incorporates distributed energy resources (DERs). The study begins by summarizing the key features of a distribution network with DERs based on recent power usage data. To predict and analyze the load growth of the industrial park, an improved back-propagation algorithm is employed. Furthermore, the study classifies users within the industrial park according to their specific power consumption and supply requirements. This user segmentation allows for the introduction of three constraints: node voltage, wire current, and capacity More >

Grid Side Distributed Energy Storage Cloud Group End Region Hierarchical Time-Sharing Configuration Algorithm Based on Multi-Scale and Multi Feature Convolution Neural Network

Wen Long*, Bin Zhu, Huaizheng Li, Yan Zhu, Zhiqiang Chen, Gang Cheng

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.5, pp. 1253-1269, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.026395 - 20 February 2023

Abstract There is instability in the distributed energy storage cloud group end region on the power grid side. In order to avoid large-scale fluctuating charging and discharging in the power grid environment and make the capacitor components show a continuous and stable charging and discharging state, a hierarchical time-sharing configuration algorithm of distributed energy storage cloud group end region on the power grid side based on multi-scale and multi feature convolution neural network is proposed. Firstly, a voltage stability analysis model based on multi-scale and multi feature convolution neural network is constructed, and the multi-scale and… More >

Quantifying Contribution of DER-Integrated EV Parking Lots to Reliability of Power Distribution Systems

Bo Zeng*, Yixian Liu, Yangfan Luo

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.6, pp. 1713-1728, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.016678 - 10 September 2021

Abstract In the future smart cities, parking lots (PLs) can accommodate hundreds of electric vehicles (EVs) at the same time. This trend creates an opportunity for PLs to serve as a potential flexibility resource, considering growing penetration of EVs and integration of distributed energy resources DER (such as photovoltaic and energy storages). Given this background, this paper proposes a comprehensive evaluation framework to investigate the potential role of DER-integrated PLs (DPL) with the capability of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) in improving the reliability of the distribution network. For this aim, first, an overview for the distribution system with… More >

Application of Multi Agent Systems in Automation of Distributed Energy Management in Micro-grid using MACSimJX

Leo Rajua, R. S. Miltonb, Senthilkumaran Mahadevana

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 483-491, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1305647

Abstract The objective of this paper is to monitor and control a micro-grid model developed in MATLABSimulink through Multi Agent System (MAS) for autonomous and distributed energy management. Since MATLAB/Simulink is not compatible with parallel operations of MAS, MAS operating in Java Agent Development Environment (JADE) is linked with MATLAB/Simulink through Multi Agent Control using Simulink with Jade extension (MACSimJX). This allows the micro-grid system designed with Simulink to be controlled by MAS for realizing the advantages of MAS in distributed and decentralized microgrid systems. JADE agents receive environmental information through Simulink and they coordinate to More >
