Development of a computer program for dimensional synthesis of a four-bar mechanism that generates a prescribed trajectory

    Cesar Hernandez1, Jhanie Rodriguez2

    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.39, No.2, pp. 1-6, 2023, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2023.05.006 - 31 May 2023

Abstract "This work aims to develop a computational tool for synthesizing a four-bar linkage mechanism that can generate a prescribed path for a point coupler link to follow. The dimensional synthesis of the mechanism involves determining the lengths of each of its links. In this case, two possible configurations are evaluated: crank-rocker and/or double crank. The prescribed path consists of an arbitrary number of points contained in a plane, along with the corresponding rotation degrees of the driver element.'' Dimensioning the mechanism involves many variables, and it is possible to obtain various configurations that generate paths… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 1687-1697, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032494 - 05 January 2023

Abstract In the current era of information technology, students need to learn modern programming languages efficiently. The art of teaching/learning programming requires many logical and conceptual skills. So it’s a challenging task for the instructors/learners to teach/learn these programming languages effectively and efficiently. Mind mapping is a useful visual tool for establishing ideas and connecting them to solve problems. This research proposed an effective way to teach programming languages through visual tools. This experimental study uses a mind mapping tool to teach two programming environments: Text-based Programming and Blocks-based Programming. We performed the experiments with one More >

An Adaptive Substructure-Based Model Order Reduction Method for Nonlinear Seismic Analysis in OpenSees

    Jian Wang1, 2, Ming Fang3, *, Hui Li1, 2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.1, pp. 79-106, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09470 - 19 June 2020

Abstract Structural components may enter an initial-elastic state, a plastic-hardening state and a residual-elastic state during strong seismic excitations. In the residual-elastic state, structural components keep in an unloading/reloading stage that is dominated by a tangent stiffness, thus structural components remain residual deformations but behave in an elastic manner. It has a great potential to make model order reduction for such structural components using the tangent-stiffness-based vibration modes as a reduced order basis. In this paper, an adaptive substructure-based model order reduction method is developed to perform nonlinear seismic analysis for structures that have a priori… More >
