Bibliometric Exploration of Conversion of Sugars to Furan Derivatives 2,5-Dimethylfuran by Catalytic Process

    Nuttida Chanhom1, Tossapon Katongtung2, Nakorn Tippayawong2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.12, pp. 3649-3665, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.054862 - 22 November 2024

Abstract This study investigated the conversion of sugars into furan derivatives, specifically 2,5-dimethylfuran, through catalytic processes using bibliographic analysis. This method evaluates scientific outcomes and impact within a specific field by analyzing data such as publication trends, references, collaborative models, leading authors, and institutions. The study utilized data from the reliable Scopus database and conducted analysis using the visualization of similarity (VOS) viewer program to gain in-depth insights into the current state of research on this topic. The findings revealed that “5 hydroxymethyl furfural” was the most used keyword, followed by “biomass” and “catalysis.” The research More >

A Two-Layer Optimal Scheduling Strategy for Rural Microgrids Accounting for Flexible Loads

    Guo Zhao1,2, Chi Zhang1,2,*, Qiyuan Ren1,2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.11, pp. 3355-3379, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.053130 - 21 October 2024

Abstract In the context of China’s “double carbon” goals and rural revitalization strategy, the energy transition promotes the large-scale integration of distributed renewable energy into rural power grids. Considering the operational characteristics of rural microgrids and their impact on users, this paper establishes a two-layer scheduling model incorporating flexible loads. The upper-layer aims to minimize the comprehensive operating cost of the rural microgrid, while the lower-layer aims to minimize the total electricity cost for rural users. An Improved Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (IAGA) is proposed to solve the model. Results show that the two-layer scheduling model with More >

Energy Blockchain in Smart Communities: Towards Affordable Clean Energy Supply for the Built Environment

    Mingguan Zhao1,4, Lida Liao2,*, Penglong Liang1, Meng Li1, Xinsheng Dong1, Yang Yang1, Hongxia Wang1, Zhenhao Zhang3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.8, pp. 2313-2330, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.048261 - 19 July 2024

Abstract The rapid growth of distributed renewable energy penetration is promoting the evolution of the energy system toward decentralization and decentralized and digitized smart grids. This study was based on energy blockchain, and developed a dual-biding mechanism based on the real-time energy surplus and demand in the local smart grid, which is expected to enable reliable, affordable, and clean energy supply in smart communities. In the proposed system, economic benefits could be achieved by replacing fossil-fuel-based electricity with the high penetration of affordable solar PV electricity. The reduction of energy surplus realized by distributed energy production More >

Optimization of Electricity Purchase and Sales Strategies of Electricity Retailers under the Condition of Limited Clean Energy Consumption

    Peng Liao1,*, Hanlin Liu1, Yingjie Wang2, Neng Liao3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.3, pp. 701-714, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.024301 - 03 January 2023

Abstract In the process of my country’s energy transition, the clean energy of hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic power generation has ushered in great development, but due to the randomness and volatility of its output, it has caused a certain waste of clean energy power generation resources. Regarding the purchase and sale of electricity by electricity retailers under the condition of limited clean energy consumption, this paper establishes a quantitative model of clean energy restricted electricity from the perspective of power system supply and demand balance. Then it analyzes the source-charge dual uncertain factors in the… More > Graphic Abstract

Data Mining Based Integrated Electric-Gas Energy System Multi-Objective Optimization

    Zhukui Tan1,*, Yongjie Ren1, Hua Li1, Weili Ren2, Xichao Zhou2, Ming Zeng1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.6, pp. 2607-2619, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019550 - 14 September 2022

Abstract With the proposal of carbon neutrality, how to improve the proportion of clean energy in energy consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions has become the important challenge for the traditional energy industry. Based on the idea of multi-energy complementarity, a typical integrated energy system consisting of electric system and gas system is constructed based on the application of power to gas (P2G) technology and gas turbine in this paper. Furthermore, a multi-objective optimization model with economic improvement, carbon emission reduction and peak-load shifting as objectives is proposed, and solved by BSO algorithm. Finally, a typical More >
