    Jie Li1,3,*, Rongwen Wang2, Yongtao Hu1,3, Jinjun Li1

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 73-90, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2023.044023

Abstract The aging prediction of railway catenary is of profound significance for ensuring the regular operation of electrified trains. However, in real-world scenarios, accurate predictions are challenging due to various interferences. This paper addresses this challenge by proposing a novel method for predicting the aging of railway catenary based on an improved Kalman filter (KF). The proposed method focuses on modifying the priori state estimate covariance and measurement error covariance of the KF to enhance accuracy in complex environments. By comparing the optimal displacement value with the theoretically calculated value based on the thermal expansion effect of metals, it becomes possible… More > Graphic Abstract

Vibration Characteristics Analysis and Structure Optimization of Catenary Portal Structure on Four-Wire Bridge

    Sihua Wang1,2, Xujie Li1,2,*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.16, No.4, pp. 361-382, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.023851

Abstract The portal structure is the support equipment in the catenary, which bears the load of contact suspension and support equipment. In practical work, with the change of external forces, the support equipment bears complex and changeable loads, so it has higher requirements for its reliability and safety. In order to study the dynamic characteristics of catenary portal structure on continuous beam of four-way bridge, taking the catenary portal structure on Dshaping four-way bridge as the research object, the portal structure simulation model of bridge-network integration was established in Midas Civil. The maximum point of deformation and stress was determined by… More >

Research on Flashover Voltage Prediction of Catenary Insulator Based on CaSO4 Pollution with Different Mass Fraction

    Sihua Wang1,2, Junjun Wang1,2,*, Lijun Zhou1,2, Long Chen1,2, Lei Zhao1,2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 219-236, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.016899

    Abstract

Pollution flashover accidents occur frequently in railway OCS in saline-alkali areas. To accurately predict the pollution flashover voltage of insulators, a pollution flashover warning should be made in advance. According to the operating environment of insulators along the Qinghai-Tibet railway, the pollution flashover experiments were designed for the cantilever composite insulator FQBG-25/12. Through the experiments, the flashover voltage under the influence of soluble contaminant density (SCD) of different pollution components, non-soluble deposit density (NSDD), temperature (T), and atmospheric pressure (P) was obtained. On this basis, the GA-BP neural network prediction model was established. P, SCD, NSDD, CaSO4 mass fraction (w(CaSO4)),… More >

On the Formulation of Three-Dimensional Inverse Catenary for Embedded Mooring Line Modeling

    M.A.L. Martins1, E.N. Lages1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.102, No.6, pp. 449-474, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.102.449

Abstract Embedded anchors have been widely used in offshore operations, and they are known to be effective and economical solutions to anchoring problems. Aiming at contributing to the definition and understanding of the embedded mooring line behavior, this paper expands the formulation adopted at DNV Recommended Practices, for two-dimensional modeling of the interaction between the seabed and the anchor line, to three-dimensional analysis. The formulation here presented, within an elegant differential geometry approach, can now model even out of plane lines. A reference problem is then defined and solved using the obtained governing equations. Corresponding equations are implemented and solved numerically… More >

Finite Element Nonlinear Analysis for Catenary Structure Considering Elastic Deformation

    B.W. Kim1, H.G. Sung1, S.Y. Hong1, H.J. Jung2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.63, No.1, pp. 29-46, 2010, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2010.063.029

Abstract This paper numerically investigates the behavior of sag and tension of inclined catenary structure considering elastic deformation. Equilibrium equation for computing elastic catenary is formulated by employing finite element method (FEM). Minimum potential energy principle and the Lagrange multiplier method are used in the formulation to derive equilibrium equation with constraint condition for catenary length. Since stiffness and loading forces of catenary are dependent on its own geometry, the equilibrium equation is nonlinear. Using the iterative scheme such as fixed point iteration or bisection, equilibrium position and tension are found. Based on the formulation, a Fortran solver is developed in… More >
