    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1103-1137, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029177 - 17 November 2023

Abstract This paper aims to solve large-scale and complex isogeometric topology optimization problems that consume significant computational resources. A novel isogeometric topology optimization method with a hybrid parallel strategy of CPU/GPU is proposed, while the hybrid parallel strategies for stiffness matrix assembly, equation solving, sensitivity analysis, and design variable update are discussed in detail. To ensure the high efficiency of CPU/GPU computing, a workload balancing strategy is presented for optimally distributing the workload between CPU and GPU. To illustrate the advantages of the proposed method, three benchmark examples are tested to verify the hybrid parallel strategy More > Graphic Abstract

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2281-2297, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028117 - 21 December 2022

Abstract Cloud infrastructural resource optimization is the process of precisely selecting the allocating the correct resources either to a workload or application. When workload execution, accuracy, and cost are accurately stabilized in opposition to the best possible framework in real-time, efficiency is attained. In addition, every workload or application required for the framework is characteristic and these essentials change over time. But, the existing method was failed to ensure the high Quality of Service (QoS). In order to address this issue, a Tricube Weighted Linear Regression-based Inter Quartile (TWLR-IQ) for Cloud Infrastructural Resource Optimization is introduced.… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.4, pp. 1327-1339, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019331 - 23 May 2022

Abstract For effective water-based thermal management of high heat generating CPU chip, a series of numerical simulation has been conducted to study the effects of heat flux, fin height and flow rate on convective thermal performance of the plate-fin microchannel heat sinks. The characteristics of heat transfer and flow resistance have been quantificationally discussed and JF factor is employed to evaluate the comprehensive efficiency of convective heat transfer of microchannel heat sink. Results show that the increase in fin height and flow rate of cooling water is helpful to decrease the maximum temperature of CPU chip. Large More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1621-1635, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027147 - 18 May 2022

Abstract In recent years, with the development of processor architecture, heterogeneous processors including Center processing unit (CPU) and Graphics processing unit (GPU) have become the mainstream. However, due to the differences of heterogeneous core, the heterogeneous system is now facing many problems that need to be solved. In order to solve these problems, this paper try to focus on the utilization and efficiency of heterogeneous core and design some reasonable resource scheduling strategies. To improve the performance of the system, this paper proposes a combination strategy for a single task and a multi-task scheduling strategy for… More >

    Mudassir Shams1, Naila Rafiq2, Nasreen Kausar3, Nazir Ahmad Mir2, Ahmad Alalyani4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.2, pp. 689-701, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022269 - 04 January 2022

Abstract In this study, we construct a family of single root finding method of optimal order four and then generalize this family for estimating of all roots of non-linear equation simultaneously. Convergence analysis proves that the local order of convergence is four in case of single root finding iterative method and six for simultaneous determination of all roots of non-linear equation. Some non-linear equations are taken from physics, chemistry and engineering to present the performance and efficiency of the newly constructed method. Some real world applications are taken from fluid mechanics, i.e., fluid permeability in biogels More >

Abstract Modern human life is heavily dependent on computing systems and one of the core components affecting the performance of these systems is underlying operating system. Operating systems need to be upgraded to match the needs of modern-day systems relying on Internet of Things, Fog computing and Mobile based applications. The scheduling algorithm of the operating system dictates that how the resources will be allocated to the processes and the Round Robin algorithm (RR) has been widely used for it. The intent of this study is to ameliorate RR scheduling algorithm to optimize task scheduling. We More >

    Samih M. Mostafa1,*, Sahar Ahmed Idris2, Manjit Kaur3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 6271-6288, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021978 - 11 October 2021

Abstract Minimizing time cost in time-shared operating systems is considered basic and essential task, and it is the most significant goal for the researchers who interested in CPU scheduling algorithms. Waiting time, turnaround time, and number of context switches are the most time cost criteria used to compare between CPU scheduling algorithms. CPU scheduling algorithms are divided into non-preemptive and preemptive. Round Robin (RR) algorithm is the most famous as it is the basis for all the algorithms used in time-sharing. In this paper, the authors proposed a novel CPU scheduling algorithm based on RR. The… More >

Effectively Handling Network Congestion and Load Balancing in Software-Defined Networking

    Shabir Ahmad1, Faisal Jamil2, Abid Ali3, Ehtisham Khan4, Muhammad Ibrahim2, Taeg Keun Whangbo1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1363-1379, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.017715 - 07 September 2021

Abstract The concept of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) evolves to overcome the drawbacks of the traditional networks with Internet Protocol (I.P.) packets sending and packets handling. The SDN structure is one of the critical advantages of efficiently separating the data plane from the control plane to manage the network configurations and network management. Whenever there are multiple sending devices inside the SDN network, the OpenFlow switches are programmed to handle the limited number of requests for their interface. When the recommendations are exceeded from the specific threshold, the load on the switches also increases. This research article… More >
