The Analysis of the Correlation between SPT and CPT Based on CNN-GA and Liquefaction Discrimination Research

    Ruihan Bai1, Feng Shen2,*, Zihao Zhao3, Zhiping Zhang4, Qisi Yu4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1159-1182, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029562 - 17 November 2023

Abstract The objective of this study is to investigate the methods for soil liquefaction discrimination. Typically, predicting soil liquefaction potential involves conducting the standard penetration test (SPT), which requires field testing and can be time-consuming and labor-intensive. In contrast, the cone penetration test (CPT) provides a more convenient method and offers detailed and continuous information about soil layers. In this study, the feature matrix based on CPT data is proposed to predict the standard penetration test blow count N. The feature matrix comprises the CPT characteristic parameters at specific depths, such as tip resistance qc, sleeve resistance fs,… More >

CPT1A in cancer: Tumorigenic roles and therapeutic implications

    SHENGJIE SONG, ZHIZHOU SHI*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.10, pp. 2207-2215, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.027677 - 08 November 2023

Abstract Metabolic reprogramming frequently occurs in the majority of cancers, wherein fatty acid oxidation (FAO) is usually induced and serves as a compensatory mechanism to improve energy consumption. Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A) is the rate-limiting enzyme for FAO and is widely involved in tumor growth, metastasis, and chemo-/radio-resistance. This review summarizes the most recent advances in understanding the oncogenic roles and mechanisms of CPT1A in tumorigenesis, including in proliferation and tumor growth, invasion and metastasis, and the tumor microenvironment. Importantly, CPT1A has been shown to be a biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis prediction and proved to More > Graphic Abstract

High level of circPTN promotes proliferation and stemness in gastric cancer

    KEWEI GAO1,#, JIANGFENG HU2,#, YI ZHOU3, LIANG ZHU1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.6, pp. 1521-1526, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.09220 - 01 September 2021

Abstract Increasing evidence proves that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play an important role in regulating the biological behaviors of tumors. The central purpose of this research was to investigate the functions of circRNA in gastric cancer. The utilization of real-time PCR was to test circPTN expression in gastric cancer cells. Cell counting colony formation assays, CCK-8 assay, and EdU assay were used to investigate proliferation. Transwell assay was applied to investigate migration. We discovered that circPTN was highly expressed in gastric cancer cells. Low expression of circPTN inhibits gastric cancer cell proliferation and migration. Elevated expression of More >
