Secure and Reliable Routing in the Internet of Vehicles Network: AODV-RL with BHA Attack Defense

    Nadeem Ahmed1,*, Khalid Mohammadani2, Ali Kashif Bashir3,4,5, Marwan Omar6, Angel Jones7, Fayaz Hassan1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 633-659, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031342 - 30 December 2023

Abstract Wireless technology is transforming the future of transportation through the development of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). However, intricate security challenges are intertwined with technological progress: Vehicular ad hoc Networks (VANETs), a core component of IoV, face security issues, particularly the Black Hole Attack (BHA). This malicious attack disrupts the seamless flow of data and threatens the network’s overall reliability; also, BHA strategically disrupts communication pathways by dropping data packets from legitimate nodes altogether. Recognizing the importance of this challenge, we have introduced a new solution called ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector-Reputation-based mechanism Local Outlier… More >

Swarm Intelligence Based Routing with Black Hole Attack Detection in MANET

    S. A. Arunmozhi*, S. Rajeswari, Y. Venkataramani

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2337-2347, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.024340 - 01 August 2022

Abstract Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) possesses unique characteristics which makes it vulnerable to security threats. In MANET, it is highly challenging to protect the nodes from cyberattacks. Power conservation improves both life time of nodes as well as the network. Computational capabilities and memory constraints are critical issues in the implementation of cryptographic techniques. Energy and security are two important factors that need to be considered for improving the performance of MANET. So, the incorporation of an energy efficient secure routing protocol becomes inevitable to ensure appropriate action upon the network. The nodes present in More >

An Adaptive BWO Algorithm with RSA for Anomaly Detection in VANETs

    Y. Sarada Devi*, M. Roopa

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.4, No.3, pp. 153-167, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2022.033436 - 01 February 2023

Abstract Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are designed in accordance with the ad hoc mobile networks (MANETs), i.e., impulsive formation of a wireless network for V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) communication. Each vehicle is preserved as a node which remains as share of network. All the vehicle in the network is made to be under communication in a VANET because of which all the vehicles in the range can be made connected to a to a unit & a wide network can be established with a huge range. Healthier traffic management, vehicle-to-vehicle communication and provision of road information can… More >

Black Hole and Sink Hole Attack Detection in Wireless Body Area Networks

Rajesh Kumar Dhanaraj1, Lalitha Krishnasamy2, Oana Geman3,*, Diana Roxana Izdrui4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 1949-1965, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015363 - 13 April 2021

Abstract In Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) with respect to health care, sensors are positioned inside the body of an individual to transfer sensed data to a central station periodically. The great challenges posed to healthcare WBANs are the black hole and sink hole attacks. Data from deployed sensor nodes are attracted by sink hole or black hole nodes while grabbing the shortest path. Identifying this issue is quite a challenging task as a small variation in medicine intake may result in a severe illness. This work proposes a hybrid detection framework for attacks by applying… More >
