An Optimal Framework for Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis

    Amer Alsaraira1,*, Samer Alabed1, Eyad Hamad1, Omar Saraereh2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 165-177, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.036950 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a kind of progressive dementia that is frequently accompanied by brain shrinkage. With the use of the morphological characteristics of MRI brain scans, this paper proposed a method for diagnosing moderate cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD. The anatomical features of 818 subjects were calculated using the FreeSurfer software, and the data were taken from the ADNI dataset. These features were first removed from the dataset after being preprocessed with an age correction algorithm using linear regression to estimate the effects of normal aging. With these preprocessed characteristics, the extreme learning machine More >

An Optimized Technique for RNA Prediction Based on Neural Network

Ahmad Ali AlZubi*, Jazem Mutared Alanazi

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3599-3611, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027913 - 17 August 2022

Abstract Pathway reconstruction, which remains a primary goal for many investigations, requires accurate inference of gene interactions and causality. Non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is studied because it has a significant regulatory role in many plant and animal life activities, but interacting micro-RNA (miRNA) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) are more important. Their interactions not only aid in the in-depth research of genes’ biological roles, but also bring new ideas for illness detection and therapy, as well as plant genetic breeding. Biological investigations and classical machine learning methods are now used to predict miRNA-lncRNA interactions. Because biological identification… More >

Computer Oriented Numerical Scheme for Solving Engineering Problems

    Mudassir Shams1, Naila Rafiq2, Nasreen Kausar3, Nazir Ahmad Mir2, Ahmad Alalyani4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.2, pp. 689-701, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022269 - 04 January 2022

Abstract In this study, we construct a family of single root finding method of optimal order four and then generalize this family for estimating of all roots of non-linear equation simultaneously. Convergence analysis proves that the local order of convergence is four in case of single root finding iterative method and six for simultaneous determination of all roots of non-linear equation. Some non-linear equations are taken from physics, chemistry and engineering to present the performance and efficiency of the newly constructed method. Some real world applications are taken from fluid mechanics, i.e., fluid permeability in biogels More >

From Biomechanics to Molecular Affinity to Systems Immunology – My Path in Biomedical Engineering That is Inspired by Dr. YC Fung

    Ning Jiang1,2,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 102-102, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07486

Abstract Force is not only involved in motion, but also involved in molecular interactions that guide cells to execute important physiological functions. Getting to know Dr. Fung at an early age shaped my college major decision, which lead me into the field of biomedical engineering. Applying a force-based measurement tool to study T cell receptor interaction with ligands in graduate school prepared me to use technology development as a foundation to answer important biological and clinical questions.
By combining engineering principle, quantitative modeling, and a deep understanding of biology and medicine, my current research focuses in… More >
