    Sonal Nirwal1,3,*, Ernian Pan1,2,*, Chih-Ping Lin1,2, Quoc Kinh Tran1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.2, pp. 1165-1191, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.054255 - 27 September 2024

Abstract Magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) materials are a specific class of advanced smart materials that simultaneously manifest the coupling behavior under electric, magnetic, and mechanical loads. This unique combination of properties allows MEE materials to respond to mechanical, electric, and magnetic stimuli, making them versatile for various applications. This paper investigates the static and time-harmonic field solutions induced by the surface load in a three-dimensional (3D) multilayered transversally isotropic (TI) linear MEE layered solid. Green’s functions corresponding to the applied uniform load (in both horizontal and vertical directions) are derived using the Fourier-Bessel series (FBS) system of vector… More >

A Probabilistic Trust Model and Control Algorithm to Protect 6G Networks against Malicious Data Injection Attacks in Edge Computing Environments

    Borja Bordel Sánchez1,*, Ramón Alcarria2, Tomás Robles1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.1, pp. 631-654, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.050349 - 20 August 2024

Abstract Future 6G communications are envisioned to enable a large catalogue of pioneering applications. These will range from networked Cyber-Physical Systems to edge computing devices, establishing real-time feedback control loops critical for managing Industry 5.0 deployments, digital agriculture systems, and essential infrastructures. The provision of extensive machine-type communications through 6G will render many of these innovative systems autonomous and unsupervised. While full automation will enhance industrial efficiency significantly, it concurrently introduces new cyber risks and vulnerabilities. In particular, unattended systems are highly susceptible to trust issues: malicious nodes and false information can be easily introduced into… More >

Combined Optimal Dispatch of Thermal Power Generators and Energy Storage Considering Thermal Power Deep Peak Clipping and Wind Energy Emission Grading Punishment

    Junhui Li1, Xuanzhong Luo1,2, Changxing Ge3, Cuiping Li1,*, Changrong Wang4

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.4, pp. 869-893, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.029722 - 26 March 2024

Abstract Peak load and wind energy emission pressure rise more as wind energy penetration keeps growing, which affects the stabilization of the PS (power system). This paper suggests integrated optimal dispatching of thermal power generators and BESS (battery energy storage system) taking wind energy emission grading punishment and deep peak clipping into consideration. Firstly, in order to minimize wind abandonment, a hierarchical wind abandonment penalty strategy based on fuzzy control is designed and introduced, and the optimal grid-connected power of wind energy is determined as a result of minimizing the peak cutting cost of the system.… More > Graphic Abstract

The Full Load Voltage Compensation Strategy in Capacity Configuration of UPQC Integrated PV-BESS

    Fuyin Ni1,2, Kai Li2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.5, pp. 1203-1221, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025796 - 20 February 2023

Abstract Unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) with energy storage is commonly based on conventional capacity configuration strategy with power angle control. It has problems such as phase jumping before and after compensation. DC-link cannot continuously emit active power externally. Therefore, this paper presents the compensation strategy of full load voltage magnitude and phase in capacity configuration of UPQC. The topology of UPQC is integrated a series active power filter (SAPF), a shunt active power filter (PAPF) and a photovoltaic-battery energy storage system (PV-BESS). The principle of full load voltage compensation is analyzed based on the PV-BESS-UPQC… More > Graphic Abstract

New 5G Kaiser-Based Windowing to Reduce Out of Band Emission

    Ahmed Hammoodi1, Lukman Audah1 , Laith Al-Jobouri2,*, Mazin Abed Mohammed3, Mustafa S. Aljumaily4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 2721-2738, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020091 - 14 December 2021

Abstract OFDM based waveforms are considered as the main part of the latest cellular communications standard (namely 5G). Many inherited problems from the OFDM-Based LTE are still under investigation. Getting rid of the out of band emissions is one of these problems. Ensuring low out of band emission (OOBE) is deemed as one of the most critical challenges to support development of future technologies such as 6G and beyond. Universal Filtered Multi Carrier (UFMC) has been considered as one of the candidate waveforms for the 5G communications due to its robustness against Inter Carrier Interference (ICI)… More >

Determinantal Expressions and Recursive Relations for the Bessel Zeta Function and for a Sequence Originating from a Series Expansion of the Power of Modified Bessel Function of the First Kind

    Yan Hong1, Bai-Ni Guo2,*, Feng Qi3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.1, pp. 409-423, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016431 - 24 August 2021

Abstract In the paper, by virtue of a general formula for any derivative of the ratio of two differentiable functions, with the aid of a recursive property of the Hessenberg determinants, the authors establish determinantal expressions and recursive relations for the Bessel zeta function and for a sequence originating from a series expansion of the power of modified Bessel function of the first kind. A. Sellier1, S. H. Aydin2, M. Tezer-Sezgin3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.102, No.5, pp. 393-406, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.102.393

Abstract The fundamental free-space 2D steady creeping MHD flow produced by a concentrated point force of strength g located at a so-called source point x0 in an unbounded conducting Newtonian liquid with uniform viscosity µ and conductivity σ > 0 subject to a prescribed uniform ambient magnetic field B = Be1 is analytically obtained. More precisely, not only the produced flow pressure p and velocity u but also the resulting stress tensor field σ are expressed at any observation point x ≠ x0 in terms of usual modified Bessel functions, the vectors g, x-x0 and the so-called Hartmann layer thickness d = (√µ/σ)/B More >

FE Analysis of a Notched Cylinder under Multiaxial Cyclic Loading Using the Multilayer Model of Besseling

    G. Savaidis1, N. Pitatzis1, A. Savaidis1, Ch. Zhang2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.4, No.3, pp. 145-160, 2008, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2008.004.145

Abstract This paper presents an elastic-plastic finite element analysis of a circumferentially notched cylinder subjected to multiaxial non-proportional fatigue loading. Two different load combinations are investigated: (1) constant tension with cyclic torsion and (2) constant torsion with cyclic tension. The multilayer plasticity model of Besseling in conjunction with the von Mises yield criterion is applied to describe the elastic-plastic material behaviour. The parametrical study contains a coarse and a fine finite element mesh with and without mid-nodes as well as three different types of multilinear approximations of the material law, namely, a twenty-segments, a five-segments and More >
