    Quanqing Tao1,*, Qingping Ma1, Xu Song1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.011311

Abstract This paper explores the design and fabrication of ultralight, rib-strengthened mechanical metamaterials, specifically focusing on thin-walled lattice structure and rib-formed lattice structure in micro 3D printing. The lattice structures, based on triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) and constant mean curvature surfaces (CMCS), provide large surface areas and continuous internal channels with lightweight and multifunctional structural applications. Algorithm designed in this paper incorporates a dynamics relaxation solver to generate pure TPMS and ribbed CMCS, enhancing the lattice design of metamaterials and the use of parametric modeling facilitates the creation of metamaterial lattice models. Abstract In differentiable search architecture search methods, a more efficient search space design can significantly improve the performance of the searched architecture, thus requiring people to carefully define the search space with different complexity according to various operations. Meanwhile rationalizing the search strategies to explore the well-defined search space will further improve the speed and efficiency of architecture search. With this in mind, we propose a faster and more efficient differentiable architecture search method, AllegroNAS. Firstly, we introduce a more efficient search space enriched by the introduction of two redefined convolution modules. Secondly, we utilize a… More >

    Junpeng Lyu1, Hai Mei1,2, Liping Zu1, Lisheng Liu1,2,*, Liangliang Chu1,2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.1, pp. 391-410, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030614 - 22 September 2023

Abstract This article proposes a modeling method for C/C-ZrC composite materials. According to the superposition of Gaussian random field, the original gray model is obtained, and the threshold segmentation method is used to generate the C-ZrC inclusion model. Finally, the fiber structure is added to construct the microstructure of the three-phase plain weave composite. The reconstructed inclusions can meet the randomness of the shape and have a uniform distribution. Using an algorithm based on asymptotic homogenization and finite element method, the equivalent thermal conductivity prediction of the microstructure finite element model was carried out, and the… More >

A Second-Order Multiscale Fracture Model for the Brittle Materials with Periodic Distribution of Micro-Cracks

    Zhiqiang Yang1,*, Yipeng Rao2, Yi Sun1, Junzhi Cui2, Meizhen Xiang3,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09513

Abstract An effective fracture model is established for the brittle materials with periodic distribution of micro-cracks using the second-order multiscale asymptotic methods. The main features of the model are: (i) the secondorder strain gradient included in the fracture criterions and (ii) the strain energy and the Griffith criterions for micro-crack extensions established by the multiscale asymptotic expansions. Finally, the accuracy of the presented model is verified by the experiment data and some typical fracture problems. These results illustrate that the second-order fracture model is effective for analyzing the brittle materials with periodic distribution of micro-cracks. More >

    Shujing Sun1,3, Jiale Wu2, Jian Yao1, Yang Cheng4, Xin Zhang1, Zhihua Lu3, Pengjiang Qian1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.1, pp. 923-938, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.027356 - 23 April 2023

Abstract Many existing intelligent recognition technologies require huge datasets for model learning. However, it is not easy to collect rectal cancer images, so the performance is usually low with limited training samples. In addition, traditional rectal cancer staging is time-consuming, error-prone, and susceptible to physicians’ subjective awareness as well as professional expertise. To settle these deficiencies, we propose a novel deep-learning model to classify the rectal cancer stages of T2 and T3. First, a novel deep learning model (RectalNet) is constructed based on residual learning, which combines the squeeze-excitation with the asymptotic output layer and new More >

EFFECTS OF VISCOUS DISSIPATION AND AXIAL HEAT CONDUCTION ON FORCED CONVECTION DUCT FLOW OF HERSCHEL-BULKLEY FLUID WITH UNIFORM WALL TEMPERATURE OR CONVECTIVE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

    Rabha Khatyr*, Jaafar Khalid Naciri

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.19, pp. 1-8, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.19.23

Abstract The aim is to study the asymptotic behavior of the temperature field for the laminar forced convection of a Herschel-Bulkley fluid flowing in a circular duct considering both viscous dissipation and axial heat conduction. The asymptotic bulk and mixing Nusselt numbers and the asymptotic bulk and mixing temperature distribution are evaluated analytically in the cases of uniform wall temperature and convection with an external isothermal fluid. In particular, it has been proved that the fully developed value of Nusselt number for convective boundary conditions is independent of the Biot number and is equal to the More >

    Cristina B. Corcino1,2, Wilson D. Castañeda Jr.3, Roberto B. Corcino1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.1, pp. 133-151, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019965 - 02 June 2022

Abstract The tangent polynomials Tn (z) are generalization of tangent numbers or the Euler zigzag numbers Tn. In particular, Tn (0) = Tn. These polynomials are closely related to Bernoulli, Euler and Genocchi polynomials. One of the extensions and analogues of special polynomials that attract the attention of several mathematicians is the Apostoltype polynomials. One of these Apostol-type polynomials is the Apostol-tangent polynomials Tn(z, λ). When λ = 1, Tn (z, 1) = Tn(z). The use of hyperbolic functions to derive asymptotic approximations of polynomials together with saddle point method was applied to the Bernoulli and Euler polynomials by Lopez… More >

Abstract In the present era, a very huge volume of data is being stored in online and offline databases. Enterprise houses, research, medical as well as healthcare organizations, and academic institutions store data in databases and their subsequent retrievals are performed for further processing. Finding the required data from a given database within the minimum possible time is one of the key factors in achieving the best possible performance of any computer-based application. If the data is already sorted, finding or searching is comparatively faster. In real-life scenarios, the data collected from different sources may not… More >
