    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.39, No.6, pp. 1035-1051, 2024, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2024.058416 - 30 December 2024

Abstract Skin cancer is a highly frequent kind of cancer. Early identification of a phenomenon significantly improves outcomes and mitigates the risk of fatalities. Melanoma, basal, and squamous cell carcinomas are well-recognized cutaneous malignancies. Malignant We can differentiate Melanoma from non-pigmented carcinomas like basal and squamous cell carcinoma. The research on developing automated skin cancer detection systems has primarily focused on pigmented malignant type melanoma. The limited availability of datasets with a wide range of lesion categories has hindered in-depth exploration of non-pigmented malignant skin lesions. The present study investigates the feasibility of automated methods for… More >

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.41, No.4, pp. 207-218, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jpm.2024.057901 - 16 December 2024

Abstract The present study focuses on sustainable biopolymer composites created from coconut sheath and basalt fibres, which are biodegradable, environmentally benign, and have low carbon footprints. High specific strength, superior mechanical performance, reduced weight, and improved thermal stability are all displayed by these materials. Four hybrid epoxy composites (C1–C4) were produced utilizing five stacking sequences and compression moulding, demonstrating that hybridization considerably enhances mechanical characteristics. The hybrid and pure basalt fibre composites have larger storage moduli than untreated coconut sheath fibre-reinforced epoxy (2.1 GPa). The greatest glass transition temperature (Tg) for C4 has been determined to More > Graphic Abstract

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.58, pp. 119-131, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sv.2024.048861 - 19 March 2024

Abstract Noise is one of the environmental factors with mental and physical effects. The workload is also the multiple mental and physical demands of the task. Therefore, his study investigated the relationship between noise exposure and mood states at different levels of workload. The study recruited 50 workers from the manufacturing sector (blue-collar workers) as the exposed group and 50 workers from the office sector (white-collar workers) as the control group. Their occupational noise exposure was measured by dosimetry. The Stress-Arousal Checklist (SACL) and the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) were used to measure mood and… More >

Involvement of the ABA- and H2O2-Mediated Ascorbate–Glutathione Cycle in the Drought Stress Responses of Wheat Roots

    Mengyuan Li1, Zhongye Gao1,2, Lina Jiang1, Leishan Chen1,2,*, Jianhui Ma1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.2, pp. 329-342, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.046976 - 27 February 2024

Abstract Abscisic acid (ABA), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and ascorbate (AsA)–glutathione (GSH) cycle are widely known for their participation in various stresses. However, the relationship between ABA and H2O2 levels and the AsA–GSH cycle under drought stress in wheat has not been studied. In this study, a hydroponic experiment was conducted in wheat seedlings subjected to 15% polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000–induced dehydration. Drought stress caused the rapid accumulation of endogenous ABA and H2O2 and significantly decreased the number of root tips compared with the control. The application of ABA significantly increased the number of root tips, whereas the application… More >

    Jian Chen1, Jing Zhang2, Gang Pan3, Dandan Huang1,*, Shuhua Zhu1

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.1, pp. 15-28, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.045621 - 26 January 2024

Abstract Ellagic acid (EA) is a natural antioxidant, widely present in a lot of forms’ soft fruits, nuts, and other plant tissues, and helpful for promoting human health; however, its protective effect on postharvest fruit and improving the quality index of postharvest fruit have rarely been studied. In this experiment, the strawberries were soaked in 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 mg L−1 EA, respectively, and the influential EA on fruit quality and the antioxidant system of strawberries were studied. Compared with the control, EA treatment can reduce the browning degree and rotting rate of strawberry… More >

ELK3-ID4 axis governs the metastatic features of triple negative breast cancer

JIN-HO CHOI, JOO DONG PARK, SEUNG HEE CHOI, EUN-SU KO, HYE JUNG JANG, KYUNG-SOON PARK*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 127-138, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.042945 - 15 November 2023

Abstract Purpose: Cancer cell metastasis is a multistep process, and the mechanism underlying extravasation remains unclear. ELK3 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in regulating various cellular processes, including cancer metastasis. Based on the finding that ELK3 promotes the metastasis of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), we investigated whether ELK3 regulates the extravasation of TNBC by forming the ELK3-ID4 axis. ID4 functions as a transcriptional regulator that interacts with other transcription factors, inhibiting their activity and subsequently influencing various biological processes associated with cell differentiation, survival, growth, and metastasis. Methods: We assessed the correlation… More > Graphic Abstract

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3387-3422, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042000 - 26 December 2023

Abstract In the education archive sharing system, when performing homomorphic ciphertext retrieval on the storage server, there are problems such as low security of shared data, confusing parameter management, and weak access control. This paper proposes an Education Archives Sharing and Access Control (EduASAC) system to solve these problems. The system research goal is to realize the sharing of security parameters, the execution of access control, and the recording of system behaviors based on the blockchain network, ensuring the legitimacy of shared membership and the security of education archives. At the same time, the system can… More >

Abstract Blade flutter is a complex phenomenon that can lead to serious damage or failure of turbomachinery systems. Predicting and mitigating blade flutter is therefore an important aspect of the design and analysis of these systems[1]. In this paper, we present a comparative study of two representative methods for blade flutter predictions: the energy method and the computational fluid dynamics/computational structural dynamics (CFD/CSD) coupled time-domain method. The energy method is a decoupled approach that uses a simplified model of the blade and fluid-structure interaction to calculate the stability boundaries of the system[2]. The time-domain method, on… More >

Abstract Background: This study was designed to investigate the roles of RASAL2 in cervical cancer (CC). Methods: Fifty-four CC tissues and 33 adjacent tissues were obtained from CC patients admitted to our hospital between March 2012 and June 2014. Real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting were performed to analyze the expression of RASAL2 mRNA and protein in these tissues, CC cell lines, and normal cervical cells. Over-expression and silencing of RASAL2 were induced after transfection, and the migration, invasion, and proliferation of the CC cell lines were examined. Results: RASAL2 mRNA and protein expressions were significantly down-regulated More >
