Ahmad Yahiya Ahmad Bani Ahmad1, Jafar Alzubi2, Sophers James3, Vincent Omollo Nyangaresi4,5,*, Chanthirasekaran Kutralakani6, Anguraju Krishnan7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.3, pp. 4791-4812, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052771 - 12 September 2024

Abstract In recent years, wearable devices-based Human Activity Recognition (HAR) models have received significant attention. Previously developed HAR models use hand-crafted features to recognize human activities, leading to the extraction of basic features. The images captured by wearable sensors contain advanced features, allowing them to be analyzed by deep learning algorithms to enhance the detection and recognition of human actions. Poor lighting and limited sensor capabilities can impact data quality, making the recognition of human actions a challenging task. The unimodal-based HAR approaches are not suitable in a real-time environment. Therefore, an updated HAR model is… More >

BArcherFuzzer: An Android System Services Fuzzier via Transaction Dependencies of BpBinder

    Jiawei Qin1,2, Hua Zhang1,*, Hanbing Yan2, Tian Zhu2, Song Hu1, Dingyu Yan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.39, No.3, pp. 527-544, 2024, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2024.047509 - 11 July 2024

Abstract By the analysis of vulnerabilities of Android native system services, we find that some vulnerabilities are caused by inconsistent data transmission and inconsistent data processing logic between client and server. The existing research cannot find the above two types of vulnerabilities and the test cases of them face the problem of low coverage. In this paper, we propose an extraction method of test cases based on the native system services of the client and design a case construction method that supports multi-parameter mutation based on genetic algorithm and priority strategy. Based on the above method, More >

Do Research Incentives Promote Researchers’ Mental Health?

    Liujian Gu1, Tao Wang1, Chuanyi Wang1,*, M. James C. Crabbe2, Xiao-Guang Yue3

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.8, pp. 903-914, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2023.028157 - 06 July 2023

Abstract Background: Researchers have a higher risk of anxiety and depression than the general population, so it is important to promote researchers’ mental health. Method: Based on the data from 3210 global researchers surveyed by the journal Nature in 2021, confirmatory factor analysis, OLS regression and other regressions were used to explore the research incentive dimensions and their effects on researchers’ mental health. Results: (1) Material incentive factors, work-family life balance factors, good organizational environment and spiritual motivation had significant positive effects on researchers’ mental health. (2) The spiritual motivation could better promote researchers’ mental health than… More >

Archery Algorithm: A Novel Stochastic Optimization Algorithm for Solving Optimization Problems

    Fatemeh Ahmadi Zeidabadi1, Mohammad Dehghani2, Pavel Trojovský2,*, Štěpán Hubálovský3, Victor Leiva4, Gaurav Dhiman5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 399-416, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024736 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Finding a suitable solution to an optimization problem designed in science is a major challenge. Therefore, these must be addressed utilizing proper approaches. Based on a random search space, optimization algorithms can find acceptable solutions to problems. Archery Algorithm (AA) is a new stochastic approach for addressing optimization problems that is discussed in this study. The fundamental idea of developing the suggested AA is to imitate the archer's shooting behavior toward the target panel. The proposed algorithm updates the location of each member of the population in each dimension of the search space by a… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1835-1847, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014397 - 05 February 2021

Abstract Context: Since the end of 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic had a worst impact on world’s economy, healthcare, and education. There are several aspects where the impact of COVID-19 could be visualized. Among these, one aspect is the productivity of researcher, which plays a significant role in the success of an organization. Problem: There are several factors that could be aligned with the researcher’s productivity of each domain and whose analysis through researcher’s feedback could be beneficial for decision makers in terms of their decision making and implementation of mitigation plans for the success of an organization.
