    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.3, pp. 4947-4972, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.055260 - 12 September 2024

Abstract This socialized environment among educated and developed people causes them to focus more on their appearance and health, which turns them towards medical-related treatments, leading us to discuss anti-aging treatment methods for each age group, particularly for urban people who are interested in this. Some anti-aging therapies are used to address the alterations brought on by aging in human life without the need for surgery or negative effects. Five anti-aging therapies such as microdermabrasion or dermabrasion, laser resurfacing anti-aging skin treatments, chemical peels, dermal fillers for aged skin, and botox injections are considered in this… More >

Determining the in vitro Anti-Aging Effect of the Characteristic Components from Eucommia ulmoides

    Xuesong Wang1,#, Zhihong Wang1,2,#, Qiuling Yang1, Sheng Peng3, Mijun Peng1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3131-3145, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.020204 - 14 July 2022

Abstract To evaluate the potential anti-aging ability of Eucommia ulmoides, four characteristic components (chlorogenic acid, geniposidic acid, aucubin, quercetin) were selected to assess their effects on H2O2-induced oxidative damage model of human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC). Oxidative damage indexes, inflammatory factors, cell cycle, cell apoptosis, cell senescence, and their related proteins were analyzed by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), propidium iodide (PI) staining, annexin V-FITC/ PI double staining, SA β-galactosidase staining, and western blotting (WB). The results showed that H2O2- induced cell growth inhibition rate decreased as supplementation with characteristic components when… More >

Antifungal Activity of Schinifoline Against Candida Albicans in Caenorhabditis Elegans

    Chengjie Shu1, Mengli Zhang1, Weiming Zhang1, Shihong Ma1, Guoqing Chen2 and Baojun Shi1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.88, No.3, pp. 317-324, 2019, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2019.07766

Abstract Zanthoxylum schinifolium has been used as spices and traditional medicine in China for hundreds of years. A variety of active substances have been isolated from Zanthoxylum schinifolium using biological and chemical techniques. Among these substances, the effect of schinifoline has gradually attracted much attention. Candida albicans is one of the most common pathogens isolated from the gastrointestinal tract, vagina, and mouth in healthy individuals. In a healthy population, there are various mechanisms in host, such as the microbial flora, the epithelial barriers, and the innate immune system, that can control the presence of Candida albicans.… More >
