    O. M. Oyewolaa,b,* , O. S. Ismailb , M. O. Olasindeb , O. O. Ajideb

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-8, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.30

Abstract In this work, attempt is made to investigate the effect of cylindrical arrangement on the thermal and flow fields within the mixed convective regime for different values of Reynolds number within the study zone. Constructal design was used to design the flow geometric. Two-dimensional unsteady laminar flow equations with buoyancy force were solved numerically using finite element technique implemented on ANSYS FLUENT software. The study showed an optimised arrangement of 50% difference in coefficient of drag and 10% difference in Nusselt number within the geometrical arrangement variation. The effect of geometric arrangement is pronounced at low Ri than at high… More >

Optimization of Process Parameters for Injection Moulding of Nylon6/SiC and Nylon6/B4C Polymer Matrix Composites

    G. Boopathy1,2,*, K. Gurusami1, M. Chinnapandian3, K. R. Vijayakumar4

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 223-232, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.018225

Abstract In this research study, the mechanical properties of several Polymer matrix composites are investigated. These composites are multi-phase materials in which reinforcing materials are properly mixed with a polymer matrix. More precisely, Nylon 6 reinforced with 5, 15 and 25 wt. % of silicon carbide (SiC) and Nylon 6 reinforced with 5, 15 and 25 wt. % of boron carbide (B4C), prepared by means of an injection moulding process at three different injection pressures are considered. Specific attention is paid to the tensile and impact strength of these composites. The Taguchi technique is used to optimize the process parameters such as reinforcement… More >

Statistical Model for Impact and Energy Absorption of 3D Printed Coconut Wood-PLA

    J. Kananathan1,2, M. Samykano2,*, K. Kadirgama3, D. Ramasamy2, M. M. Rahman2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.5, pp. 1305-1315, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.016131

Abstract Fused deposition modeling (FDM)-3D printing has been the favored technology to build functional components in various industries. The present study investigates infill percentage and infill pattern effects on the printed parts’ impact properties through the 3D printing technique using coconut wood-filled PLA composites. Mathematical models are also proposed in the present study with the aim for future property prediction. According to the ASTM standard, fifteen specimens with different parameter combinations were printed using a low-cost FDM 3D printer to evaluate their impact properties. Statistical analysis was performed using MINITAB to validate the experimental data and model development. The experimental outcomes… More >

Multiple Response Optimization of Dimensional Accuracy of Nimonic Alloy Miniature Gear Machined on Wire Edm Using Entropy Topsis Andpareto Anova

    Tina Chaudhary1,*, Arshad Noor Siddiquee2, Arindam Kumar Chanda3, Shafi Ahmad2, Irfan Anjum Badruddin4,*, Zahid A. Khan2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.1, pp. 241-259, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.013368

Abstract The purpose of this research is to obtain the optimum cutting parameters to achieve the dimensional accuracy of Nimonic alloy miniature gear manufactured using Wire EDM. The cutting parameters investigated in this study are current, pulse on time (PON), pulse off time (POFF), wire tension (WT) and dielectric fluids. Ethylene glycol, nanopowder of alumina and oxygen are mixed to demineralized water to prepare novel dielectric fluids. Deviation in inner diameter, deviation in outer diameter, deviation in land and deviation in tooth width are considered to check the dimensional accuracy. Taguchi L16 is employed for experimental design and multiple response optimization… More >

Influence of Operating Parameters on Unbalance in Rotating Machinery Using Response Surface Method

    Ameya M. Mahadeshwar1, *, Sangram S. Patil1, Vishwadeep C. Handikherkar1, Vikas M. Phalle1

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.52, No.5, pp. 12-21, 2018, DOI:10.32604/sv.2018.03927

Abstract Wide range of rotating machinery contains an inherent amount of unbalance which leads to increase in the vibration level and related faults. In this work, the effect of different operating conditions viz. the unbalanced weight, radius, speed and position of the rotor disc on the unbalance in rotating machine are studied experimentally and analyzed by using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). RSM is a technique which consists of mathematical and statistical methods to develop the relationship between the inputs and outputs of a system by distinct functions. L27 Orthogonal Array (OA) was developed by using Design of Experiments (DOE) according to… More >
