    Zhi Li1, Yufei Zhao2, Yueming Ji2, Hanwen Gu2, Zaibin Jiao2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.12, pp. 3899-3927, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.055899 - 22 November 2024

Abstract By integrating advanced digital technologies such as cloud computing and the Internet of Things in sensor measurement, information communication, and other fields, the digital DC distribution network can efficiently and reliably access Distributed Generator (DG) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS), exhibiting significant advantages in terms of controllability and meeting requirements of Plug-and-Play (PnP) operations. However, during device plug-in and -out processes, improper system parameters may lead to small-signal stability issues. Therefore, before executing PnP operations, conducting stability analysis and adjusting parameters swiftly is crucial. This study introduces a four-stage strategy for parameter optimization to enhance… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.6, pp. 1625-1639, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2024.055084 - 22 November 2024

Abstract Users of social networks can readily express their thoughts on websites like Twitter (now X), Facebook, and Instagram. The volume of textual data flowing from users has greatly increased with the advent of social media in comparison to traditional media. For instance, using natural language processing (NLP) methods, social media can be leveraged to obtain crucial information on the present situation during disasters. In this work, tweets on the Uttarakhand flash flood are analyzed using a hybrid NLP model. This investigation employed sentiment analysis (SA) to determine the people’s expressed negative attitudes regarding the disaster. More >

    Yameng Yin1, Lieping Zhang2,*, Xiaoxu Shi1, Yilin Wang3, Jiansheng Peng4, Jianchu Zou4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.2, pp. 2769-2790, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.056791 - 18 November 2024

Abstract By integrating deep neural networks with reinforcement learning, the Double Deep Q Network (DDQN) algorithm overcomes the limitations of Q-learning in handling continuous spaces and is widely applied in the path planning of mobile robots. However, the traditional DDQN algorithm suffers from sparse rewards and inefficient utilization of high-quality data. Targeting those problems, an improved DDQN algorithm based on average Q-value estimation and reward redistribution was proposed. First, to enhance the precision of the target Q-value, the average of multiple previously learned Q-values from the target Q network is used to replace the single Q-value… More >

Multi-Material Topology optimization via Stochastic Discrete Steepest Descent Multi-Valued Integer Programming

    Zeyu Deng1, Yuan Liang1,*, Gengdong Cheng1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.30, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.012504

Abstract Compared to single-material optimization, topology optimization of multi-material structures offers a larger design space. It also requires efficient material selection methods to provide guidance for designers. The predominant methods are based on interpolation schemes, which introduce order-dependence issues during the optimization process. This means the sequence in which materials are arranged can significantly impact the optimization outcomes and may lead to notable issues with material gradation. This paper identifies the mathematical essence of multi-material topology optimization as a nonlinear multi-valued integer programming problem. In this paper, we propose a novel stochastic discrete steepest descent multi-valued More >

A Study on the Extraction and Evaluation Method of Virtual Strain

    Peiyan Wang1,*, Haoyu Wang1, Minghui Liu2, Fuchao Liu1, Zhufeng Yue1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.30, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.011318

Abstract The virtual test is supported by the physical test data, and a high-precision simulation model needs to be established to maximize the alignment between the simulation prediction results and the physical test data. It can replace other physical tests and achieve the goal of reducing the design cycle time and cost. However, due to the errors caused by the position and angle deviation of the strain gauge paste, as well as the sensitivity coefficient of the strain gauge and the wire, it is difficult for the simulation results to correspond to the test results in… More >

In-Situ Process Monitoring and Quality Evaluation for Fused Deposition Modeling with Foaming Materials

    Zhaowei Zhou1, Kaicheng Ruan1, Donghua Zhao1, Yi Xiong1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.011376

Abstract Fused deposition modeling (FDM) with foaming materials offers the capability to generate internal porous structures through in-situ foaming, imparting favorable characteristics such as weight reduction, shock absorption, thermal insulation, and sound insulation to printed objects. However, the process planning for this technology presents challenges due to the difficulty in accurately controlling the foaming rate, stemming from a complex underlying mechanism that remains poorly understood. This study introduces a multi-sensor platform for FDM with foaming materials, facilitating in-situ process monitoring of temperature field information during material modeling and quality evaluation of printed objects, i.e., abnormal foaming… More >

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.5, pp. 1477-1492, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.052675 - 30 October 2024

Abstract Indoor heating with an electrical heating cable, which has no harmful emissions to the environment, is an attractive way for radiant floor heating. To improve the heat transfer efficiency, a novel structure of the heating cable was designed by proposing the concept of the aluminum finned sheath. The transient heat transfer model from the embedded heating cables to the floor is established to validate the feasibility of this novel cable. The effects of the fin number and shape on the cable’s temperature and heat flux distribution were analyzed. The results show that, with the specific More > Graphic Abstract

Fuzzy Comprehensive Analysis of Static Mixers Used for Selective Catalytic Reduction in Diesel Engines

    Xin Luan1,*, Guoqing Su1, Hailong Chen1, Min Kuang1,2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.11, pp. 2459-2473, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.054621 - 28 October 2024

Abstract The proper selection of a relevant mixer generally requires an effective assessment of several models against the application requirements. This is a complex task, as traditional evaluation methods generally focus only on a single aspect of performance, such as pressure loss, mixing characteristics, or heat transfer. This study assesses a urea-based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system installed on a ship, where the installation space is limited and the distance between the urea aqueous solution injection position and the reactor is low; therefore, the static mixer installed in this pipeline has special performance requirements. In particular,… More >

    Shangjun Gao1,2, Yang Yang1, Man Chen1, Jian Zheng1, Luqi Qin2,*, Xiangyu Liu2, Jianying Yang1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.11, pp. 3305-3329, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.053622 - 21 October 2024

Abstract Horizontal well drilling and multi-stage hydraulic fracturing are key technologies for the development of shale gas reservoirs. Instantaneous acquisition of hydraulic fracture parameters is crucial for evaluating fracturing effectiveness, optimizing processes, and predicting gas productivity. This paper establishes a transient flow model for shale gas wells based on the boundary element method, achieving the characterization of stimulated reservoir volume for a single stage. By integrating pressure monitoring data following the pumping shut-in period of hydraulic fracturing for well testing interpretation, a workflow for inverting fracture parameters of shale gas wells is established. This new method… More >
