    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.2, pp. 2607-2627, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.056616 - 18 November 2024

Abstract The importance of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) obstacle avoidance algorithms lies in their ability to ensure flight safety and collision avoidance, thereby protecting people and property. We propose UAD-YOLOv8, a lightweight YOLOv8-based obstacle detection algorithm optimized for UAV obstacle avoidance. The algorithm enhances the detection capability for small and irregular obstacles by removing the P5 feature layer and introducing deformable convolution v2 (DCNv2) to optimize the cross stage partial bottleneck with 2 convolutions and fusion (C2f) module. Additionally, it reduces the model’s parameter count and computational load by constructing the unite ghost and depth-wise separable… More >

Hot Corrosion Caused Damage to the Ni-Based Single Crystal Superalloy in the Presence of NaCl at 760℃

    Xinmei Wang1,*, Peiyan Wang1, Weizhu Yang1, Bin Zhao1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 1-2, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.010965

Abstract Ni-based superalloys are the main material for the high pressure turbine blades of modern gas turbine engines [1]. High temperature corrosion of the blade, also called hot corrosion, is inevitable due to the working environment which directly affects the performance and life of the engine [2]. The working environment is harsher if the turbine engine is used in the sea environment. The salt fog of high humidity in the sea results in the chloride of NaCl and KCl. Coupled hot corrosion and high temperature oxidation increase the decay of the blade performances. Therefore, it is… More >

Abstract In this work, a steady mixed convection in a two-dimensional enclosure filled viananoliquid Cu/H2O through a porous medium was numerically analyzed. The nanoliquid flow is designated utilizing the Brinkman-Forchheimer model. The upper and the bottom horizontal walls are considered to be hot (Th) and cold temperature (Tc), respectively, whereas the other walls are thermally insulated. The impact of various dimensionless terms such as the Grashof number (Gr) in the ranges (0.01–20), the Reynolds number (Re) in the ranges (50–500), the Hartman number (Ha) in the ranges (0–20), and three different location cases (0.25, 0.5, and More >

Abstract Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most important cereal crops in the world. Bakanae disease is a significant rice disease widely distributed in rice-growing regions worldwide. Therefore, the present investigation aimed to assess the optimal concentrations of paclobutrazol (PBZ) as a treatment for rice grains (cv. Sakha 108) to control bakanae disease, also evaluating its impact on grain germination, seedling growth parameters as well as disease index. Paclobutrazol concentrations had no significant impact on seed germination, regardless of whether the seeds were incubated with Fusarium fujikuroi or not. Application of PBZ, either alone or in… More >

Obstacle Avoidance Capability for Multi-Target Path Planning in Different Styles of Search

Mustafa Mohammed Alhassow1,*, Oguz Ata2, Dogu Cagdas Atilla1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 749-771, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.055592 - 15 October 2024

Abstract This study investigates robot path planning for multiple agents, focusing on the critical requirement that agents can pursue concurrent pathways without collisions. Each agent is assigned a task within the environment to reach a designated destination. When the map or goal changes unexpectedly, particularly in dynamic and unknown environments, it can lead to potential failures or performance degradation in various ways. Additionally, priority inheritance plays a significant role in path planning and can impact performance. This study proposes a Conflict-Based Search (CBS) approach, introducing a unique hierarchical search mechanism for planning paths for multiple robots.… More >

Abstract Background: Paclitaxel is a compound derived from Pacific yew bark that induces various cancer cell apoptosis. However, whether it also has anticancer activities in KOSC3 cells, an oral cancer cell line, is unclear. Methods: 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide, flow cytometry, and western blotting assays were carried out to assess cell viability, subG1 phase of the cell cycle, and apoptosis-related protein expression, respectively. Results: Our findings indicate that paclitaxel could inhibit cell viability and increase the expression of apoptotic markers, including plasma membrane blebbing and the cleavage of poly ADP-ribose polymerase in KOSC3 cells. Also, the treatment with paclitaxel More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Ultrasonic baths and sonochemical reactors are widely used in industrial applications dealing with surface cleaning and chemical synthesis. The processes of erosion, cleaning and structuring of the surface can be typically controlled by changing relevant influential parameters. In particular, in this work, we experimentally investigate the effect of NaCl concentration (0–5.5 mol/L) on the erosion of an aluminum foil under ultrasonic exposure at a frequency of 28 kHz. Special attention is paid to the determination of cavitation zones and their visualization using heat maps. It is found that at low NaCl concentration (0.3 mol/L), the More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) exhibits a significant prevalence in the southern regions of China, and paclitaxel (PTX) is frequently employed as a medication for managing advanced NPC. However, drug resistance is typically accompanied by a poor prognosis. Exploring the synergistic potential of combining multiple chemotherapeutic agents may represent a promising avenue for optimizing treatment efficacy. Methods: This study investigated whether 3-Methyladenine (3-MA) could potentiated the effect of PTX and its potential molecular mechanism. Samples were divided into the following categories: Negative control (NC) with the solvent dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO, 0.5% v/v), PTX (400 nM), 3-MA… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.4, pp. 703-716, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.030988 - 20 March 2024

Abstract Background: Limited research has been conducted on the influence of autophagy-associated long non-coding RNAs (ARLncRNAs) on the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: We analyzed 371 HCC samples from TCGA, identifying expression networks of ARLncRNAs using autophagy-related genes. Screening for prognostically relevant ARLncRNAs involved univariate Cox regression, Lasso regression, and multivariate Cox regression. A Nomogram was further employed to assess the reliability of Riskscore, calculated from the signatures of screened ARLncRNAs, in predicting outcomes. Additionally, we compared drug sensitivities in patient groups with differing risk levels and investigated potential biological pathways through enrichment analysis, using… More >

    Rohollah Fallah Madvari1, Hamideh Bidel2, Ahmad Mehri3, Fatema Babaee4, Fereydoon Laal5,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.58, pp. 119-131, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sv.2024.048861 - 19 March 2024

Abstract Noise is one of the environmental factors with mental and physical effects. The workload is also the multiple mental and physical demands of the task. Therefore, his study investigated the relationship between noise exposure and mood states at different levels of workload. The study recruited 50 workers from the manufacturing sector (blue-collar workers) as the exposed group and 50 workers from the office sector (white-collar workers) as the control group. Their occupational noise exposure was measured by dosimetry. The Stress-Arousal Checklist (SACL) and the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) were used to measure mood and… More >
