    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.2, pp. 2299-2316, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.054836 - 18 November 2024

Abstract As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to expand, incorporating a vast array of devices into a digital ecosystem also increases the risk of cyber threats, necessitating robust defense mechanisms. This paper presents an innovative hybrid deep learning architecture that excels at detecting IoT threats in real-world settings. Our proposed model combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BLSTM), Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), and Attention mechanisms into a cohesive framework. This integrated structure aims to enhance the detection and classification of complex cyber threats while accommodating the operational constraints of diverse IoT systems.… More >

Traffic Flow Prediction with Heterogeneous Spatiotemporal Data Based on a Hybrid Deep Learning Model Using Attention-Mechanism

    Jing-Doo Wang1, Chayadi Oktomy Noto Susanto1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.140, No.2, pp. 1711-1728, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.048955 - 20 May 2024

Abstract A significant obstacle in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is the capacity to predict traffic flow. Recent advancements in deep neural networks have enabled the development of models to represent traffic flow accurately. However, accurately predicting traffic flow at the individual road level is extremely difficult due to the complex interplay of spatial and temporal factors. This paper proposes a technique for predicting short-term traffic flow data using an architecture that utilizes convolutional bidirectional long short-term memory (Conv-BiLSTM) with attention mechanisms. Prior studies neglected to include data pertaining to factors such as holidays, weather conditions, and More >

RoGRUT: A Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Detecting Power Trapping in Smart Grids

    Farah Mohammad1,*, Saad Al-Ahmadi2, Jalal Al-Muhtadi1,2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 3175-3192, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042873 - 15 May 2024

Abstract Electricity theft is a widespread non-technical issue that has a negative impact on both power grids and electricity users. It hinders the economic growth of utility companies, poses electrical risks, and impacts the high energy costs borne by consumers. The development of smart grids is crucial for the identification of power theft since these systems create enormous amounts of data, including information on client consumption, which may be used to identify electricity theft using machine learning and deep learning techniques. Moreover, there also exist different solutions such as hardware-based solutions to detect electricity theft that… More >

A Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Real Time Hand Gestures Recognition

    S. Gnanapriya1,*, K. Rahimunnisa2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1105-1119, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032832 - 29 September 2022

Abstract The performance of Hand Gesture Recognition (HGR) depends on the hand shape. Segmentation helps in the recognition of hand gestures for more accuracy and improves the overall performance compared to other existing deep neural networks. The crucial segmentation task is extremely complicated because of the background complexity, variation in illumination etc. The proposed modified UNET and ensemble model of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) undergoes a two stage process and results in proper hand gesture recognition. The first stage is segmenting the regions of the hand and the second stage is gesture identification. The modified UNET More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1896-1919, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012423 - 26 November 2020

Abstract Infections or virus-based diseases are a significant threat to human societies and could affect the whole world within a very short time-span. Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19), also known as novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2), is a respiratory based touch contiguous disease. The catastrophic situation resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic posed a serious threat to societies globally. The whole world is making tremendous efforts to combat this life-threatening disease. For taking remedial action and planning preventive measures on time, there is an urgent need for efficient prediction models to confront the COVID-19 outbreak.… More >
