Abstract The tulip (Tulipa sp.) is an ornamental plant produced by bulbs. Wild tulips are native to several areas of Iran, especially the Alborz and Zagros mountains. Endemic Iranian tulips are the origin of some commercial cultivars of tulip, and mutagens are commonly used to produce new traits and varieties.
