    Abstract Each stage of embryonic development, including normal gamete maturation, fertilization, zygotic genome activation, and cleavage, is crucial for human reproduction. Early embryo arrest is a common phenomenon. It is estimated that about 40%–70% of human embryos are arrested at early developmental stages. However, the exact mechanism remains largely uncertain.     Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are specialized bacterial communities inhabiting the root rhizosphere and the secretion of root exudates helps to, regulate the microbial dynamics and their interactions with the plants. These bacteria viz., Agrobacterium, Arthobacter, Azospirillum, Bacillus, Burkholderia, Flavobacterium, Pseudomonas, Rhizobium, etc., play important role in plant growth promotion.     Calcitonin gene related peptide modified mesenchymal stem cells reduce restenosis after carotid balloon injury in rats

    Abstract This work aimed to investigate the effects of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP)-modified mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on vascular stenosis in carotid balloon-injured rats. The CGRP gene labeled with EGFP was transfected into bone marrow MSCs, and CGRP protein expression in MSCs was confirmed by immunofluorescence assays. A rat carotid balloon injury model was established using a surgical method. CGRP-modified MSCs were orthotopically transplanted into the injured area of the rats.     Abstract Plant U-box (PUB) E3 ubiquitin ligases play important roles in hormone signaling pathways and in response to different abiotic stresses, but little is known about U-box genes in Danshen (root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge). Here, we identified and characterized 70 SmPUB genes based on its genome sequence. Phylogenetic analysis of U-box genes from S. miltiorrhiza and Arabidopsis suggested that they can be clustered into seven subgroups (I–VII).     Abstract Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) butyrate promote the postnatal rumen epithelial development and maturation in ruminants. However, molecular mechanisms of effects of butyrate on the bovine rumen epithelial cells (BRECs) proliferation remain elusive.     Abstract

    Drought stress is one of the major environmental obstacles that limit the production and development of apples (Malus domestica Borkh.). The role of melatonin is well known in the protection of plants under environmental stresses. In this study, we investigated the effect of melatonin on apple rootstock M. hupehensis Rehd under drought stress. The results showed that drought inhibited the growth of M. hupehensis and dramatically reduced root surface area, root volume, the number of tips and forks, and root diameter.     Abstract Divicine is an active pyrimidine aglycone, generated from vicine by the enzyme β-glucosidase upon ingestion of fava beans. In this study, we investigated the effect of divicine on cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and explored the potential mechanisms.     Abstract Human adipose stem cells (hADSCs) are reliable sources for cell therapy. However, the clinical applications are limited by the decrease in activity during in vitro culture. We used a knockout serum replacement (KSR) medium, Eppendorf (EP) tube culture, and a simulated microgravity (SMG) culture system to establish hADSC spheroids.
