Summary

Cryptogams include algae, bryophytes, ferns, lichens and fungi, i.e. taxonomically heterogeneous groups of plants and plant-like organisms which have in common the cryptic reproductive organs and the reproduction by spores. Although neglected in many research aspects due to small size, biomass or economical significances, they have pivotal roles in the various ecosystems in terms of functionality. Experimental approach, either in the field or in the laboratory is appreciated in the further understanding of their significance in nature as well as their application. The novel and original insights into biology of these organisms are welcomed as well as their traits reviews.
