Summary
Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC), primarily comprising basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, represents the most common malignancy worldwide. Despite its prevalence, NMSC research has historically been overshadowed by the focus on melanoma. However, recent advancements in understanding the molecular mechanisms, diagnostic techniques, and treatment options have sparked renewed interest in this area. This special issue aims to gather cutting-edge research and reviews that highlight these developments and explore future directions in NMSC care.
We invite contributions that cover a wide range of topics, including innovative diagnostic tools, genetic and environmental risk factors, new therapeutic strategies, and preventive measures. We are particularly interested in studies that address the challenges of treating high-risk populations, such as immunocompromised individuals, and the role of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence in improving NMSC outcomes.
This issue will serve as a comprehensive resource for researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals, offering insights into the latest research and clinical practices in NMSC. By fostering a deeper understanding of this common but often underestimated cancer type, we hope to inspire further innovation and collaboration in the field.
