Summary

In recent years, with the increasing awareness of environmental protection, new renewable building materials have received more and more attention and favor. Traditional building materials usually use non-renewable resources such as stone, concrete, glass, etc., which cause significant energy waste and environmental pollution. However, new renewable building materials are made from renewable resources such as waste materials, plant fibers, biomass, etc., and have excellent properties such as lightweight, high strength, fire resistance, sound insulation, heat insulation, breathability, etc. They can also effectively reduce energy consumption, and carbon emissions, and play an important role in promoting sustainable development. In addition, new renewable building materials can also provide employment opportunities for rural and underdeveloped areas, promoting economic development and social progress. With continuous technological innovation and development, new renewable building materials will have a wider range of application prospects and become an important direction for the future development of the construction industry.

This special issue will cover all aspects related to research and innovation in new renewable building materials. Review articles, in-depth scientific investigations, and research from various perspectives such as structure, materials, cost, construction technology, and environmental impact will be the main objectives of this issue.

Abstract Recycled steel fiber reinforced concrete is an innovative construction material that offers exceptional mechanical properties and durability. It is considered a sustainable material due to its low carbon footprint and environmental friendly characteristics. This study examines the key influencing factors that affect the behavior of this material, such as the steel fiber volume ratio, recycled aggregate replacement rate, concrete strength grade, anchorage length, and stirrup constraint. The study investigates the bond failure morphology, bond-slip, and bond strength constitutive relationship of steel fiber recycled concrete. The results show that the addition of steel fibers at 0.5%,… More >
