Summary

As urbanization accelerates worldwide, the need for sustainable, efficient, and resilient cities has never been greater. Smart cities, empowered by emerging technologies, offer innovative solutions to the complex challenges posed by modern urban living. This special issue, titled "Smart Technologies for Smart Cities," aims to explore cutting-edge research, developments, and applications of smart technologies that drive the transformation of urban environments. The focus will span critical areas including smart infrastructure, renewable energy integration, smart transportation systems, smart logistics systems, wireless sensor technology, environmental sustainability, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in city planning. By addressing topics such as IoT-enabled systems, smart grids, autonomous transportation, renewable energy-powered city operations, data-driven mobility and logistics solutions, and the ethical implications of smart city development, this issue will provide a comprehensive understanding of how technology can enhance the quality of urban life.


Through interdisciplinary research contributions, this special issue seeks to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and policymakers, fostering collaboration to advance the future of urban living. The insights presented will contribute significantly to the body of knowledge on smart city development, offering innovative solutions that balance technological advancement with the sustainability and well-being of urban populations.
