Summary
Occupant behavior plays a vital role in building energy performance. Widely used building simulation with simple assumptions on occupant behavior might over/under estimate actual building energy demand. An in-depth understanding of how occupant interact with building systems is critical to develop advanced occupant behavior models and its application in building simulation. The focus of this special issue is the measurement, modeling and simulation of various occupant behaviors (such as windows, blinds, lighting, HVAC related behaviors) and its implication on actual building performance.
The topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
• Building occupant behavior
• Building energy analysis
• Window opening/closing behavior
• Shades/blinds adjustment
• lighting switch behavior
• Monitoring, modeling and simulation of occupant behavior
• Diversity in occupant behavior
• Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of occupant behavior
