    D. Soares Jr.1, V. Sladek2, J. Sladek2, M. Zmindak3, S. Medvecky3
    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 101-127, 2012, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2012.027.101
Abstract This work proposes a modified procedure, based on analytical integrations, to analyse poroelastic models discretized by time-domain Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin formulations. In this context, Taylor series expansions of the incognita fields are considered, and the related integrals of the meshless formulations are solved analytically, rendering a so called modified methodology. The work is based on the u-p formulation and the incognita fields of the coupled analysis in focus are the solid skeleton displacements and the interstitial fluid pore pressures. Independent spatial discretization is considered for each phase of the model, rendering a more flexible and efficient More >

A Structural Reliability Analysis Method Based on Radial Basis Function

    M. Q. Chau1,2, X. Han1, Y. C. Bai1, C. Jiang1
    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 128-142, 2012, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2012.027.128
Abstract The first-order reliability method (FORM) is one of the most widely used structural reliability analysis techniques due to its simplicity and efficiency. However, direct using FORM seems disability to work well for complex problems, especially related to high-dimensional variables and computation intensive numerical models. To expand the applicability of the FORM for more practical engineering problems, a response surface (RS) approach based FORM is proposed for structural reliability analysis. The radial basis function (RBF) is employed to approximate the implicit limit-state functions combined with Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) strategy. To guarantee the numerical stability, the More >

Analysis on Simulation of Quasi-Steady Molecular Statics Nanocutting Model and Calculation of Temperature Rise During Orthogonal Cutting of Single-Crystal Copper

    Zone-Ching Lin1, Ying-Chih Hsu1
    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 143-178, 2012, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2012.027.143
Abstract This paper uses quasi-steady molecular statics method to carry out simulation of nanoscale orthogonal cutting of single-crystal copper workpiece by the diamond tools with different edge shapes. Based on the simulation results, this paper analyzes the cutting force, equivalent stress and strain, and temperature field. For the three-dimensional quasi-steady molecular statics nanocutting model used by this paper, when the cutting tool moves on a workpiece, displacement of atoms is caused due to the effects of potential on each other. After a small distance that each atom moves is directly solved by the calculated trajectory of… More >

Experimental Study and Simulation on Compression Character of Warp Knitted Spacer Fabrics

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 179-188, 2012, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2012.027.179
Abstract Based on experimental data, the research work on warp knitted spacer fabrics gives compression laws when structural parameters (such as diameter of spacer yarn, areal density, spacer yarn angle and the thickness of spacer fabrics ) of spacer fabric change. ANSYS calculation models were developed, and simulation results matched with experimental data well. The computer simulation on this area provides a fundamental tool which can help designer to decide structural parameters when working stresses are given. More >
