Summary

A smart city is one that has a realization of its current state and adapts or counters the problems in a smart or an intelligent manner. Several issues associated with a city would typically include traffic congestions, energy management, health management, and so on. But, AI, Machine learning, Deep learning, and data analytics can provide solutions to the common occurring problems in an effective manner. The need for smart technologies is much needed and the potential of these technologies can be harnessed to tackle these problems. Methods/ models/ architectures/ algorithms can help the future generations in living a sustainable, and a healthy life. These solutions should be provided with keeping environment in mind. All the domains of a smart city: smart homes, smart transportation, smart buildings, smart healthcare, etc. are highly dependent on effective energy consumption and management as well. This special issue would focus on the above concepts and provide effective solutions for a smart city. It is intended to invite theoretical and practical contributions that shall focus on developments, challenges and innovative research in the field of AI and Data science and its applications in Smart cities.
