E-commerce is the fast-growing technique in the retail industry offers an effective platform for business organizations to trade and promote their products over the internet. It supports a variety of business services such as internet banking facilities, online fund transfer, online transaction processing systems, inventory management systems, supply chain management, enterprise management, etc. The tremendous evolution of mobile channels and personal computers creates a breakthrough in E-commerce applications with potential opportunities and challenges. Due to the reason that the advent of mobile devices plays a predominant role in E-commerce applications, it has become mandatory to ensure security, privacy, and trust measures from the end-user perspective. Further, banking and transaction processing systems may contain the user's sensitive information, which is highly subject to various suspicious events and malicious activities. As a result, securing E-commerce systems is gaining increased attention in recent years, and researchers around the world have enthusiastically involved in finding appropriate solutions.
Cybersecurity provides legitimate solutions to the E-commerce environment that ensures secure transactions between the client and the retailer. It also offers practical strategies and cybersecurity algorithms to detect fraudulent activities across e-commerce communication channels. The use of cybersecurity creates awareness among the customers, especially with banking and financing sectors, which enables them to make secure transactions across the E-commerce environment. Confidential information such as an individual's credit card data, bank account information, customer's identity, and several other customer's private data can also be preserved effectively with proper implementation of cybersecurity principles. To summarize, cybersecurity has plenty of benefits to E-commerce, yet there are some security gaps and complexities, which have to be addressed with utmost importance. Further, with the advent of new technology and changing demands, a large number of users have been attracted towards online transaction processing systems, which may lead to increased cyber threats and malicious activities. Hence, bringing in new trends and advances in cybersecurity can enlighten E-commerce applications with meaningful solutions.
