Summary
Inflammatory responses and immune regulation are critical to maintaining homeostasis but can lead to pathological conditions when dysregulated. This special issue aims to delve into the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive inflammation, focusing on the roles of genotoxicity, cellular signaling, apoptosis, and macrophage function in these processes.
By gathering contributions from global experts, this issue seeks to uncover novel insights into the regulation of inflammation at the cellular level, with potential implications for therapeutic interventions in a wide range of diseases. Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
1. Cellular Signaling Pathways in Inflammation:
-Investigating the role of key signaling pathways (e.g., NF-κB, MAPK) in modulating the inflammatory response.
-Understanding how intracellular signaling cascades contribute to the onset, regulation, and resolution of inflammation.
2. Macrophages in Immune Regulation and Inflammation:
-Exploring the multifaceted role of macrophages in immune responses, tissue homeostasis, and inflammatory diseases.
-Examining how macrophages regulate inflammation through cytokine production, phagocytosis, and interaction with other immune cells.
3. Genotoxicity and Its Role in Inflammatory Responses:
-Analyzing how DNA damage and repair mechanisms impact inflammatory processes and contribute to disease progression.
-Investigating the relationship between genotoxic stress and inflammation-induced cellular apoptosis.
4. Apoptosis and Cell Death in Inflammation:
-Exploring the mechanisms by which inflammation triggers apoptosis and how apoptotic pathways influence immune responses.
-Assessing the balance between apoptosis and other cell death modalities (e.g., necroptosis) in the context of chronic inflammation.
5. Inflammatory Mechanisms in Acute Lung Injury:
-Investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving acute lung injury, with a focus on inflammation and immune dysregulation.
-Identifying potential therapeutic targets to mitigate inflammation in lung injury models.
6. Animal Models of Inflammation and Disease:
-Utilizing animal models to study the underlying mechanisms of inflammation and test potential anti-inflammatory treatments.
-Exploring how findings from animal studies translate to human inflammatory diseases and therapeutic development.
Through this special issue, we aim to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and expand our understanding of the complex cellular mechanisms governing inflammation and immune regulation. We welcome original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and perspectives that provide new insights into these critical biological processes, highlighting novel therapeutic approaches to modulate inflammation and treat related diseases.
