Summary

Chronic diseases such as malignant tumors, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and rheumatoid arthritis afflict many patients. However, achieving optimal therapeutic effects through any single means remains challenging. To maximize patients benefits, cell-based therapies have entered an era of comprehensive and personalized treatment approaches. Combination therapies involving cell-based treatments, supported by evidence-based medical data, have proven highly effective and beneficial for patients.. Specifically, the integration of radiotherapy, chemotherapy, stem cells therapy, immune cell therapy, and novel drugs, has shown promising results. This special issue aims to provide a comprehensive update on cell-based therapies in synergistic combination management, spanning from bench research to clinical applications. It offers an in-depth overview of the molecular mechanisms underlying cell-based anti-cancer therapies within synergistic combination strategies. The focus is on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and developing innovative therapeutic strategies to improve outcomes for patients with resistant and intractable chronic diseases. The issue will highlight cutting-edge research on radiotherapy, novel drugs, and immunotherapy in combination with cell-based treatments, providing medicinal scientists with the latest insights into this dynamic field.

The sub-topics to be covered in the issue are as follows:
1. Molecular Mechanisms of Combined Therapies for Chronic Diseases
2. Impact of Novel drugs, Radiotherapy and Immunotherapy on Chronic Diseases Patents at the Cellular Level
3. Cell-based Combination Therapies and Personalized Treatment for Chronic Diseases
4. Advances in Cell Biomarker for Chronic Diseases
5. Mechanisms of Immune Cells and Stem Cells in Therapy Processes

This sub-theme will focus on the signaling pathways involved in cellular stress responses, the regulatory networks governing immune effector molecules, and the molecular mechanisms underlying cell death to improve immune-based therapies.

6. Radiation-induced Cell Damage to be Prevented in Radiotherapy

This sub-theme will investigates the specific mechanisms of cellular stress responses to elucidate how these processes protect cells from radiation damage, thereby enhancing the efficacy of radiotherapy.

7. Clinical and Translational Therapy Strategies for Chronic Diseases

This sub-theme will investigate the relationship between biomarkers and cellular signaling pathways, highlighting their role in predicting treatment responses and resistance to optimize personalized therapies for chronic diseases.
